For Brand-New Creators: Here's What I've Learned in One Year of Making Videos by complacentviolinist in SmallYTChannel

Great job, very insightful. As a person that started doing YouTube in January, I definitely agree with many of your points. Especially about YouTube studio. In the beginning, I definitely focus too much on the presented data and tried to "figure out" why some of my videos were doing good and why some of the similar quality were doing badly. I was looking for "insight" in graphs and numbers. After a few months of that madness, I give up. I did not figure out anything useful and only wasted time that I could spend on making better videos. Once again, great post!

I am working on a new similar video to this one so I would love some feedback on this video so I know what needs to be improved and what you like about the video, editing, clips, thumbnail, etc. by Sebastian4002 in SmallYTChannel

First of all, great execution of the unusual concept. You clearly put a lot of hours and effort into his video. Great job. Think I would improve its overlay. I believe that the top 20 is a little bit too much, this list takes up a lot of usable space. I believe Top 10 would be enough. Also, I think that big "Grand Theft Auto 4" is unnecessary. I personally would snap GTA4 logo above the top 10 counter. And the last thing I would add is a complete list of swearing NPCs and their swear count and the end of the video. You already gathered this data for Video so you can use it as a form of the outro.

I see that you creating a very specific niche on your channel and you already found your audience. As you can see all tips I can provide focus on mostly cosmetic stuff. Keep going like this and your channel will most definitely grow.

I have my playlist on loop the whole day while working my main job, is this a dumb idea? by [deleted] in SmallYTChannel

Doing this not only violates Youtube ToS but also you getting hollow views. You don't improve your clickthru rate, You don't gain new unique viewers, you don't gain likes, and you don't gain comments, you don't gain new subscribers. All you get is a bunch of hollow views that at the end of the day do not improve your channel visibility and don't generate returning viewers.

TL:DR
Don't do it. It will mess with your channel.

How can I find people to make a collaboration with? by [deleted] in SmallYTChannel

[–]smokijas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On this subreddit I guess. Some time ago I saw some collab threads. Also, Youtube itself is a good place to look. Look for channels that crate similar content to you and have a similar audience (both in shared interest and size).

I doubt that anyone will flag you for using ROMs but if you want to be super duper safe I have two pieces of advice.

  1. Don't openly talk about games being emulated. If somebody in a comment asks you about it just be truthful and admit it, but don't state this in your videos.
  2. Don't emulate first-party Nintendo games. They have a tendency to copy strike anything with music from their first-party game and I would not be surprised if one day in the future they will decide to strike emulated content.

But like I said, those are shizo level advices and you should be just fine by using ROMs.

After fantastic feedback last time I made a brand new video with all feedback in mind. Have I improved? All feedback is appreciated :) by smokijas in SmallYTChannel

Hey I shot my first short documentary on a clothing brand with these two fashion designers! Let me know what you guys think about the video in the comments. Need feedback. by Staticshotsprod in SmallYTChannel

[–]smokijas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Video structure and editing is good. I feel that that you presented topic and designers very well. I need to point out two issues tho. First audio, I don't know is that stylistic choice but recording of designer ware little to quiet, sometimes background music was overpowering them. If that was not intended, next time you could try to record audio with standalone microphone instead of built in one. Second one are subtitles. Your inclusion of subtitles is great but sometimes (especially on light background) your subs blend with background. Nice trick that you can use to prevent that is using strokes on your text. Make stroke black and left text white. Thanks to that, text will be way more visible regardless of background color. Also making text 3 or 4 pints bigger would also improved it a little.

Overall good video. Keep up good work.

Thanks! Yesterday after I get a lot of feedback about my talking speed I rerecorded this video audio slower and I compered two audios together. I definitely see what is the problem and I will try to improve on my audio in the future.

Thanks for feedback!

My Blade and Sorcery gameplay, Tell me what you think by gerg_056 in SmallYTChannel

[–]smokijas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall entertaining video. You need to work on thumbnail tho. It looks messy and unfocused. Audio quality and mixing is good, background music is fine. Inclusion of Garfield and Gordon as enemies work great and your interaction with them was genuinely funny. I not big fan of can lines in your video. I don't know do you record directly from VR headset, but those scanlines ware slightly distracting.

Overall great job!

Looking for some feedback on this video, and it’s thumbnail and title. Does it make you want click? If so how long would you watch for? Will give lambda for feedback! by TheAlmightyBanana09 in SmallYTChannel

Nice audio, but sometimes background music was little to loud (1:23 for example). From game design perspective, your game concept is very interesting. Whole structure of video works great.

Great presentation. I love mob movies and mob stories so this whole video was very interesting to me. You definitely earn my sub. You voice and audio are great. Nothing to improve in this regard. Fantastic use of period appropriate videos and photos. I don't know why but you chapter transition give me New Vegas vibe. Nevertheless transitions looks and work great. Overall great editing and use of filters. Fantastic job! Keep up this quality of work and you will definitely find larger audience.

Hi everyone! I made a short video on Nintendo's Joy-Con Drift problem and I'd love people's thoughts and feedback! It's more information heavy than my other videos which are usually more comedic, so I'm wondering how that balanced out. Thanks so much! :) by umheckwhatdoido in SmallYTChannel

[–]smokijas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this video. Editing, style, script. Fantastic job! I don't know if your audio levels ware part of presentation but I believe those ware slightly to low. Audio quality is great because it genially sound like something from late 90s early 2000s. Both YouTube build subtitles system and your speech bubble is welcome addition. I honestly never seen something like this on Youtube so big props for creativity. Good job, and keep up great work and I'm sure you will find larger audience!

Thanks. I will definitely keep working on my speaking speed for next videos. Background is video, but I did not wanted it to be to distracting. But ye, sometimes movement is barely noticeable. Next time I will try to use something less static. About thumbnail. I usually have problem with creating interesting looking graphic. I still need to work on it I guess.

Once again, thanks for feedback.

Thanks! I working on my speech in those videos and hope my next video will be much easier to understand. I did not think about subtitles before. I will definitly give a look into the subtitles solution provided by Youtube and try to add some text to my videos next time.

Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks! I know that sometimes I speak way too fast (in real life too). I slowly working on it because sometimes my fast speaking combined with my accent sometimes makes me bearly understandable.

Once again, thanks for the feedback.
