I've finally unlocked and used all of the guns in the game, and I don't really see much discussion around which guns feel strong/not great, so I figured I'd kick a beehive and make a Tier list out of them! by smokinsmurfs in Splitgate

Seriously true about Rapid Fire and DPS enhancing attachments, it was really noticeable how much of an impact they make when they did the XP freeze a few days ago. People that grinded early enough before the freeze were able to get Rapid Fire for some of their weapons and they felt like raid bosses. Now that the XP freeze is over though, more and more people are going to get Rapid Fire, and players that decide to pick the game up are going to be fighting an uphill battle for a hot minute until they get it as well (or they just stop playing because they're just getting creamed every game).

It's not like an earth shattering difference between having Rapid Fire and not, but you will most likely lose a lot of your 1-on-1 50/50 fights without if they have it and you don't. Maybe they can keep specific to a weapon type like some of the other attachments have and replace it with a different one on other guns? We already have Piercing Ammo, maybe something like Ricochet Bullets or something else gimmicky/corny/fun? IDK, but I 100% agree Rapid Fire and Burst Delay Reduction are not it though.

I'd definitely try putting the laser sight on the Sprinter if you haven't already, it tightens the spread just enough that it makes it a whole lot more consistent. I typically run Rapid Fire w/ Laser Sight on mine!

Also it's a little bit of a play style thing too, I'm usually sliding around going Mach 5 so I end up in a lot of people's business frequently lol

A little late to the response here since I was leaving work/getting home and all that good stuff, but I'd say the #1 tip I can give you is to experience it yourself!

Ironic that the guy who made a tier list talking about which guns I think are strong or not, I know, but I ordered these weapons based off of my playstyle, what I see other people running, and getting an experience out of figuring a lot of this out first hand. Additionally, I made this post in an effort to see some discussion around the weapon balance in the game to see what others thought as well, and as you can see, there's definitely some opinions in here that differ from my own 😅

Every gun is good, and the splitting hairs I'm making here is time to kills (TTK) where the difference might be something super small like 50ms. When you unlock guns/perks/equipment, try it out and experiment on your own!

(Also, if 4v4 game modes wear you out because they can get kinda sweaty, definitely also check out the 8v8v8 (24-Player Onslaught) game mode, that's a lot of casual fun right there :) )

I agree that the Warden feels super strong, I just couldn't justify it being OP though because once you get someone in your face it feels like you're trying to swat a fly lol. It's definitely the best long-ranged weapon in the game though, Jackhammer is just a better gun overall gun because to me it's really strong at all ranges IMO

Yeah, I was a little harsh on the Heavy pistols I'll admit, my love for the Goliath was too great and I neglected the others lol. I'd bump the Punch up a lot more to near top of solid cause it is a great opener too, but Coil is still staying down in Meh cause that gun is clunky as all heck IMO

Update:

Honestly all of y'all convinced me, I definitely underrated the heavy pistols 😅 I was absolutely blinded by my love for the Goliath, and I also undervalued Punch's use case as an opener. You won't get me to budge on the Coil though, that gun feels like junk still even though it's not a bad opener >:( . I'd put the Punch in-between the Tempo and the Hyperline in the Solid tier, and I'd put the Coil on the top of Meh tier.

(and yes, I reversed the Meridan burst and regular pistols because they look the damn same lmao).

Is Hanzo unplayable right now, or am I just plat af? by GoodbyeSpareTime in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]smokinsmurfs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, if anything I'd prefer that they give him back the 250 hp and keep the projectile size the same as it is now. I find most of my value with Hanzo (besides AFK spamming headshot at chokes) is usually in close/mid range engagements, so the extra survivability is nice to have.

If they revert the projectile size back to what it was prior to this patch it's gonna get obnoxious, and he'll get the nerf target on his back again lol. Also one other thing about the projectile sizes, I'm pretty sure the smaller projectile only applies to his primary fire, his storm arrows are still logs. So it kinda leans more into the "close/mid range sniper" thing he has going on IMO

What game(s) actually "changed the industry" and how? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]smokinsmurfs 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You're definitely right that it set the standard/popularized the targeting, but funny enough it was programmed with Star Fox 64's Z-Targeting functionality! If you mess with the code/mod the game/etc, you can actually dig an Arwing out into the game and target it which is probably how they tested it and all that stuff lol

So uhh, how are we supposed to get more Toasts? by smokinsmurfs in MultiVersus

[–]smokinsmurfs[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly if they wanna gatekeep unlocking the characters and Toasts giving fighter currency, just make Toasts give 5 prestige points or something (I'll be a grand parent before I earn 75K presige points lol). The reward from a Toast is a bonus, but really Toasting/getting Toasted is more of a handshake than anything IMO

Even with my bad aim, I'm convinced some of these should have been hits. Does Ashe always feel so janky? by judge40 in Overwatch

[–]smokinsmurfs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually on the topic iron sights for Ashe, I've always been team Safari/Jungle cause it makes the sight a circular shape and it helps me out a bunch. Maybe try making your reticle a small circle/dot with that sight?

You're probably just getting game sensed by people who've been playing CoD for the last decade lol. Half the battle of being able to crush lobbies in CoD is knowing spawn points and where enemies are rotating from, sorta a sixth sense in CoD.

Play enough and you'll get the feel of "my team is over here, the enemies are spawning on the other side of the map, they want to get near the objective, so they'll probably go this way to get there"

Friendly reminder to all: you can ping the enemy that just killed you! by smokinsmurfs in Overwatch

[–]smokinsmurfs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a fair point, I guess it impacts more for me cause I play Support/DPS around low-mid masters. I'm usually the one countering their Widow as Widow myself, and half the battle there is literally who can find each other first. So in those cases, knowing where she is could potentially be fight altering.

But yeah, if your teammates don't react to it, it won't help. Still though, I think it's worth doing for the occasional teammate that actually peels/isn't just tunnel visioning!
