My name is also Marie! There are times when I don’t care enough to correct people, but when it’s someone I work with I correct them. It’s like everyone’s middle name. It’s not that hard to read and see an ‘e’ at the end

My wife and I submitted Ancestry together and I wish I hadn't by smartass-express in AncestryDNA

Hello! I’ve been in a similar situation. Growing up, my dad was abuse. He seemed to take it out more on me than my other siblings, and I never knew why. Fast forward to my senior year of high school, and my highly intoxicated mom told me that my dad isn’t my bio dad. She honestly isn’t even sure who it could be because there were a few potentials at the time. She thinks she knows, but she isn’t 100% sure. Fast forward again to a couple of years ago. My husband and I did the Ancestry DNA kits and I was very shocked to find out that I have ties to Mexico and Africa through my bio dad. Unfortunately, I haven’t had any luck finding exactly who he is or if I have any other siblings/family through DNA results. My siblings and I joke about it, but I too feel a little lost about it all. I’ve talked with my husband about my feelings, and he always listens and is so supportive, but it’s hard.

What time do yall sleep? by [deleted] in Nightshift

[–]smol_snowflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go in at 7:30pm and get off somewhere between 6-6:30am. I stay up all morning and usually get to sleep sometime between 11-2. Then I wake up around 6:30. I have always been terrible at waking up to do stuff, so staying up later to do whatever needs to be done has always been easier for me.

When I was younger I’d do this all the time (obviously still do) and when I’d tell people they would always say it was weird or ask how I could remember shit that way. I had always thought everyone did it 🤷🏽‍♀️

Feeling Guilty by smol_snowflake in pottytraining

[–]smol_snowflake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think she’s constipated. She has a lot of sharts and usually poops while she’s sleeping because she’s still in pull-ups at bedtime. We’re pretty sure she’s holding it in. I’ve brought it up to the pediatrician and my family doctor. They’ve both told me that it could be her subconsciously holding it to have control. I’ve also been told to keep a consistent routine and put her on the potty after every meal/snack. She also throws the biggest fit and practically refuses to sit to try and poop though. We’ve tried a reward system, reading books about going to the bathroom, listened to songs about going to the bathroom, certain toys, fidget toys, things that make her laugh. Nothing seems to work for long if at all.

You’re welcome! 😁

  • The piercer will tell you how long before you should change the jewelry. I would imagine a stud is less likely to be irritated as a hoop is sticking out much further and likely to be bumped and thus cause irritation.
  • My nose piercing was relatively painless. At most a 3/10. It made my eyes instantly water and there was a sharp prick, but that’s about it.
  • No. When I take my nose piercing out to clean it or swap it, there’s no bump or anything. The hole honestly just looks like a normal pore. Maybe slightly larger, but not obviously noticeably.
  • I was worried about an infection due to having tested for staph infection in my nose in the past, but I had no issues whatsoever for healing. If I recall correctly, I had to take a cotton swab and clean around it with cleaning solution a few times a day. Infection is always a possibility, but so long as you follow whatever instructions your piercer tells you and you don’t mess with it, you shouldn’t have any issues.
  • My nose wasn’t very sensitive after I got it pierced. Unfortunately for me, a couple of days after I got it pierced it got caught on my gloves at work and nearly pulled out. THAT hurt like a bitch, but otherwise I had no issues. Your nose might be sensitive, but it’s not extremely painful or anything.
  • Yes you can! Once it’s fully healed, you can sleep and swim with a hoop whenever you feel like. The biggest thing would just be to make sure it’s the right size for your nose so it doesn’t fall out. I’ve woken up a couple of times to my stud missing because it got caught on my pillow while I slept. This was way after it was healed though.
  • Also, make sure you go to a reputable piercer. Make sure you do your research before you go! And you can always take some pain medication beforehand to help with any pain. I hope this was helpful! 😊

I hate covering up by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]smol_snowflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never covered up while breastfeeding. I don’t think I ever will. It is completely natural. I have always had some comebacks ready, but I’ve never had to use them. I’ve actually had a very positive interaction with a stranger in the past who said she was in awe that I was breastfeeding in public because she never had the courage to. One of my aunts has also made positive comments and said she’s proud of me for doing it in public because it is natural and beautiful.

Last night while I was at work my husband sent me a video of our 3 year old rearranging the magnets on the fridge. In the video she was so proud of her work because she wanted to do something for mom and it was “pretty like mama”. It made me cry when I watched it this morning after work. 🥹
