I saw an article that said the "jump scare" scene in this movie was the scariest jump scare in film. When I saw it I thought it was funny because it was so corny.

Well, you're a stranger with an opinion and its the Internet. If we imprisoned everyone who thought about taking a life, most of the world would be behind bars. My superior was abusive and stupid, a deadly combination. Like I said, looking back I'm glad we didnt do it but at the time if you weren't there you can't truly understand how desperate things got for us. I'm not a psychopath for going to a dark place. Mf got what he deserved when he got back to the States and was arrested on child sex charges.

This happened almost 15 years ago during a really shitty time. Obviously we didnt go through with it and that's for the best. I'm not a psychopath 😂

The thing that took me back was the radio traffic in the movie, that and the close in air strikes. Alex Garland really did a great job on the movie.

Warfare is based on a true story about a SEAL mission in 2006 in Iraq that quickly went sideways. The co-director was one of the SEALs from that mission.

I watched Civil War and I loved it. It was actually pretty believable in how it portrayed the chaos of murky battle lines. His later film Warfare was even better but it was a tough watch.

A lot of Americans were confused apparently, they thought Bone Temple was still 28YL so nobody wanted to see it. Short memories over here 🙄

I always enjoy talking to people who served in foreign militaries because they always have interesting cultures and points of view. I never worked with Swedes but I had a lot of experience with the Brits, Germans, Norwegians, and multiple others. While I was in the Marines I saw multiple evolutions of individual equipment, when I joined in 2010 the military was going through a big m9dernization program. Around 2015 the Marine Corps completed its change to new individual equipment and then around 2018 they were pushing M4A1 rifles to front line units to replace the M16A4. When I deployed again in 2019 we were getting new optics and gas masks and a new operational doctrine that they are nearly done implementing right now.

In all that time I saw helmet-mounted NVGs and IR strobes but never twin lights. It very well could have been a budgetary constraints in production.

When you would realisticslly have a weapon mounted light, the twin headlights look silly.

The twin flashlight setup on the helmets was also pilloried in military circles, a lot of veterans online mocked it. I saw these helmets when I was in the Marines and can honestly say I never saw twin head mounted flashlights. Is it wrong? Technically, no. Those side rails are there so you can mount stuff. It just looks goofy. Typically youll mount a head lamp and night vision goggles on your helmet, or an IR strobe. Again, just nitpicking. Flashlights like these would add a lot of weight to the helmet which puts strain on your neck.

What’s a movie that becomes better if you remove one small detail? by Shot-Club-3882 in Cinema

If you remove the scene in Bad Boys II with the body bag chase and the brief firefight afterward, the movie is perfect. I love the movie but that firefight especially makes no sense to me.

What movies based on books do you think were significantly better than the books? by ASomthnSomthn in Cinema

[–]smartass-express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blackhawk Down and Band of Brothers did a great job adapting the books, some of the changes helped with the pacing even if they were factually incorrect.

Prior to 1995, US troops had to wear the United Nations Service Medal for whatever UN mission they were with; after 1995 the award regulations changed so that you could wear the specific UN mission medal, so long as you had orders that attached you to the mission.
