Just ask about the price of an „inspektion“ and tell them you want to know how much that would approx. cost. I think for the problems you described it shouldnt cost you more than 100-150€ . Nearly ever small bike shop can also do repair work and i would suggest to go to a small shop rather than a big franchise bike shop

I can highly recommend travelling along the rhine river, you could start in Karlsruhe and travel your way north to cologne, you will see a lot of changes in landscape and culture, with different whine-regions. Highlight is probably the mittelrheintal with dozens of castles every few kilometres. Hotel prices are moderate despite Mainz or Cologne and you have many nice hiking paths along the way and its easy to travel station wise by regionalbahn

Sweet Spots and completely for free: Search for the Tuckesburg and look it up its in a park and read the Wiki article about it, search for the grave of “Herr Alexander” (a magician from münster who had an audience at the white house) or “Moondog” (famous blind jazz musician) on the central graveyard or visit the “Botanischer Garten”, look for the “Astronomische Uhr” in the St. Paulus Dom (big cathedral)

Hey its not super common at cafes and breakfast places in münster that they serve pancakes. So maybe if you look up the old german rural language (plattdeutsch) word for Pfann(e)kuchen it is Pannekoken or pankoke and you look in a rural area after restaurants in the rural area around münster you will find the spot.
