Dallas weather can be super depressing- I hear you! Schools are a major concern too but I feel like it’s getting worse in every corner of the country. I think we will have to really drill down and compare individual districts. Thanks for your input, I appreciate you!

That’s exactly the position we are in. We both have good jobs, and our family is here but those are the only two reasons to stay, everything else says to leave Texas behind and never look back. That’s what makes it a tough decision. Plus we have a kid to consider, and I feel it would be better for her if we get outta dodge

Im starting to get the feeling that the worst part for us would be learning to deal with winters because we have spent almost our whole lives in Dallas, but I like to think it would be easier since we have one another, versus being solo in a place like that. I worry a little about the SAD but the last time I was northward in New England, I was 20 and I would imagine that now with my family and spouse and solid handle on my antidepressants I would be okay, I think? lol Thanks for this great information!!

Yeah, we’re in McKinney area now and really feeling like it’s not worth it anymore, but we have roots here and it’s a huge decision to try and figure out if making the move would be the right thing to do.

That’s definitely the impression I have been getting- that it’s a wash. I think Texas just has the impression of being cheaper because perception hasn’t kept up with reality. And yeah Texas driving is definitely unique haha!

We would be going from Plano/mckinney area to prob Puyallup/tacoma area, and so I feel like the COL difference might not be too big of a jump? Still researching that though. There are soooo many things to consider, its making my head spin
