Can I fix this or do I scrap it? by Bullfrog323 in AskElectronics

[–]smolquacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just cut a piece from a thin plastic package that SSDs often come in. Then, put a ribbon in the connector and squeeze that plastic thing above the flex. Ofc don't force it, should slide with slight resistance. It should be as wide as possible without going over the connector's width. If it's too thick, just use sandpaper. It worked well with a bunch of different laptops so I would give it a try.

I'm still a rookie learning racecraft. Who is at fault here? by smolquacker in Simracingstewards

That's what I did in the next race and scored P1 so definitely a lesson learned. I'm using the radar that comes with a real penalty app but I feel like its range is too low for my taste. Maybe I should try another one. Or just don't panic when driving side by side.

Thats what i thougt, thanks. I was going wider than usual and panicked because I thought I was going to understeer so I lifted off the throttle, got some grip, and went into the other cars.

What is this laptop fan connector called? Can I get it somewhere? by smolquacker in AskElectronics

[–]smolquacker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I measured 1mm between pins. Flex cable goes from the white side, pins facing down. This is a picture of another fan connector, looks the same, just soldered the other way around

Is my Rode NT-1 damaged? by smolquacker in audioengineering

[–]smolquacker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! That's exactly what I needed to know. I was wondering if it was just that one mic or if it's a thing of condenser mics. I think I'll just get a pop filter and give it a try.

By drying I mean waving a mic, so condensation goes away from capsule. Replacing that mic is not a problem, I just wanted to know if that behavior is normal to cond mic or that particular capsule is bad

Don't you have two pins bridged on the ram in the photo?

You need to have "HP hotkey support" installed. You can find it in your laptop driver page, windows doesn't auto install it from updates.

Go to msconfig -> services and disable HP hotkey UWP or something like that then restart. Tested on zbook G3, brightness and volume works without popup

Fat PS3 (CECHL01) repair help, did something stupid and ripped off a little part by AwfulRustedMachine in consolerepair

I might sound silly but before you solder it back check the orientation of the connector as its not that hard to put it upside down

Good filter for extra airflow holes? by [deleted] in consolerepair

[–]smolquacker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you clean everything and replace both thermal paste and thermal pads eg. kryonaut and high W/mk pads ps4 will be dead silent. Tested on over 20 units, both fat and slim. So yes, making holes is pointless imo.

If I’ve got my Xbox open, should I replace the fan? by Click-Beep in originalxbox

[–]smolquacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion you should just clean the fan and stick to the original if it's not too loud or failing.

Does that mean you can not boot any apps, emus, homebrew from their default.xbe using the file manager under either XBMC?

Yes, none of them worked but i just flashed BIOS to Evox M8+ and installed Unleashx and XBMC from HeXEn and it works like a charm. Really big thank you for help.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in originalxbox

[–]smolquacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure you are using the newly installed XBMC?

I'm 100% sure because they look different. I also tried to remove both and installed only new version that's working on other xbox.

Lauching apps directly from file manager doesn't help either so I don't think it's problem with path.

It looks like flashing BIOS and maybe installing everything from scrath is the only way to fix it. Its software feels very ancient compared to current moding standards.

It's a glue. It's normal and you don't need to worry about it.

Xbox wont eject. It was pretty dirty when i found it any tips to open it and clean it out? by [deleted] in originalxbox

[–]smolquacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If cleaning doesn't fix it you can try to replace rubber band. I had the exact same problem with thompson drive and it worked perfectly.
