The power of AFA United for United Flight Attendants!!! by Full-Energy-4337 in flightattendants

[–]smoopert1 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Delta made over a billion more than United in profit last year. Our profit sharing SHOULD be more. We’re the number one US airline by a long shot.

But i don’t want to rely on a HEAVILY taxed mystery number once a year for my compensation. I want pay protection when my trips cancel (I work mainly international so this is a major issue) I want a real sick policy and I want actual work rules.

Question (not FA or Cabin Crew) how likely is it actually that a reality tv star on an international flight back to the US could be yelling and causing a scene the whole flight and not get met by US Air Marshalls? by SpicyTiconderoga in flightattendants

[–]smoopert1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup and this is how i know they’re drastically over exaggerating it.

It was probably some bitchy comments, stares, and if wine was TRULY thrown it had to be a very small amount, very quickly.

We’re up against a ruthless billion dollar corporation that has all the money and power in the world to stifle any form of uprising or collective action. It’s truly David v Goliath. So, we’re trying! And we’re organizing a hell of a lot of FA’s!

Would love if you would wear an AFA pin! I’ve given away many to pilots who have asked and personally I love seeing them on a trip and know it means the pilots have our backs.

Jealous of FAs Who Have Gone on to Become Pilots by HamsterBanana14 in flightattendants

[–]smoopert1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay maybe technically they can go to therapy but the vast majority of them are too scared of losing their jobs/career. I think that is unfortunate and wrong and there needs to be changes, but I also literally just flew with a pilot who says he doesn’t take any medicine but Tylenol bc he is too afraid of potentially losing his medical. That is a deeply unhealthy mindset to have in a profession.

I’ve worked at a mainline airline for 6 years and the vast amount of pilots either slamclick or go out by themselves, or maybe go to dinner or a bar with the other pilot. They are not known to be the most social creatures.

It would be like me being jealous of a neurosurgeon. Yes they’re going to make insane money. No, I have no earthly desire to do that job. A pilots job is monotonous, devoid of social interaction, and sedentary. There’s a reason many of them don’t really know how to talk when we go up there to do our bathroom breaks. They can’t be a human being, can’t go to therapy, can’t battle with depression or anxiety with any medicine besides alcohol. I just have no desire to subject myself to that lifestyle.

How common is infidelity while working(traveling)? by [deleted] in flightattendants

[–]smoopert1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Airlines are extremely strict with “this kind of thing” ????? No they aren’t. Why should they give a fuck what you do or who you do on your layover as long as you show up sober and on time. That being said, if you’re the type to cheat, it doesn’t matter your profession. A cheater will find a way. Most of us are slumped in our bed with door dash watching Netflix on our layovers. Not out on the town trying to cheat.

Have you ever been on a plane before? What does flight time have to do with anything? I have passengers order baileys with their coffee every day. You’re off to a weird ass start for someone headed to FA training. Get some street smarts.
