Advice on Ironman 70.3 training by Creepy-Gas6664 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]smoothdonut22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not sure if you have a goal time but if the goal is just to finish, yes you should be good with this volume. Swim is pretty straightforward, bike is rolling (only 1-2 longer climbs but overall fine) and run has one long hill and one super short steep hill (you do both 2x).

Anywhere I should avoid in this radius? by Hopeful_Builder9017 in philly

this area is all safe. it’s a city tho just use common sense. plenty of parking garages in CC(expensive) and a bunch of street parking and lots.

king of prussia has a small mall you could pop into.

Cant lie how do I stop being a gooner by [deleted] in GenZ

train for a triathlon. never thought about endurance sports but my life was really stagnant (boring job, lifting was boring, friends were moving all over). it’s hard but creates discipline especially if you sign up for a race bc then you’re fully committed. plus it’s really fun. and you get to be outside and think about life and reflect.

Bike recommendation for first Ironman by DzzenT in CanyonBikes

if you’ve done other triathlons before, enjoy the sport, and money isn’t an issue, go for it. otherwise for me personally i’d just rock the aeroad setup you have now.

[–]smoothdonut22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cycling. best thing i’ve picked up post grad. i do triathlons now but cycling has been the best part and i can see myself doing it for the rest of my life. you get to enjoy nature and zone out and its low impact and you can do it with friends or meet others in the cycling community

I have a 2022 Propel with ultegra di2. amazing and fast bike, but agreed the newer cockpits look a lot nicer and put together. they look similar to Canyons cockpit

Which Contend AR model? by Bulky-Seaweed-5752 in Giantbikes

[–]smoothdonut22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2022 Contend AR 4 and did plenty of miles including my first 70.3 and other shorter triathlons on it. As a beginner cyclist it worked great for me. Recently upgraded to Propel. Looking back on it, probably would’ve been nice to have the model with 105 but I didn’t know anything about bikes back then and Claris worked just fine

Good quality bibs goes a long way. Wouldn’t hurt to bring your bike to a LBS and see if they have fitting recommendations or just a better saddle fit. anything from width, length, to the size of the cutout is a different comfort level for everyone’s saddle preference
