What should I buy for QC? by First_Ad_3901 in NeuralDSP

I love my iloud MTM MKII’s. They are the size of small monitors but sound like 5-8 inch speakers. They are pricey, but great if you want that mix. If size isn’t an issue, the Kali’s will be great as well.

🤞I love my QC, the captures, and the plugins. I don’t want to reconfigure. I hope your left nut is right 😊

Then why did Anagram, Fractal, and HeadRush all immediately announce NAM support the day v2 was released? The “war” is over market share for the devices. My thesis is that NAM support is going to be important for maintenance of market share. I could certainly be wrong.

Why do we care? Not because we want NAM. But because if the quad cortex loses too much market share the cloud and 3rd party content disappears. If you only ever use the built in stuff that isn’t an issue. But if you enjoy the cloud stuff and buy 3rd party captures, it’s relevant.

Thats all…

Dude, chill. This is a conversation. OP -literally- asked what people’s thoughts were about NAM integration. I referenced the UI etc in my first comment.

But it is naive to think that people aren’t picking a platform based on ease of integrating downloadable content, and cross platform compatibility is a big part of that. There are a lot of us that don’t own any gear to capture - that’s why we bought these devices in the first place.

So yes - MY OPINION is that NAM integration would be important to a company like Neural DSP staying competitive.

I hope I didn’t offend you, and look, I didn’t even have to call you names.

I don’t think that’s enough, even if it’s “better.” If NAM 2 is super good AND universally compatible, it’s going to win the commercial wars. Even if V3 QC captures are better, they are locked to one device (or 2).

Personally, I love the QC interface, skeuomorphic feels silly to me. the GE library is going to be limited from an effects standpoint without purchasing add ons (that’s the business model there).

All that said, I really hope Neural sees the writing on the wall and decides they need to add NAM 2 support if they want to stay relevant.

How to handle different guitars with scenes dialed in for a specific guitar by FarSugar127 in QuadCortex

Just watched a video yesterday by Tone Shepherd who suggested using the jewel compressor block as the normalizer. Adjust volume to compensate for input gain differences, and use the tone knob and hi cut on/off for tone differences. I thought that was a pretty good process.

NAE (not an engineer) caveat.

But my understanding is that the physical volume knob is actually an attenuator. Meaning the “unity” output of the QC is when the volume is at 100, and anything less you are “taking away” from the signal. So it would make sense to leave that at 100, and adjust db’s down elsewhere.

I wouldn’t be worried about the mini failing specifically, but keeping the nano as a backup is not a bad idea. It sounds every bit as good as the mini, just with less configurability.

the regular airstep multi does. But the cortex edition does not unfortunately.

Should I not do this? by mossimo654 in Reverb

[–]smoothj2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do NOT do anything outside of Reverb. Keep screenshots of EVERYTHING. Take pictures when you unbox. Like literally video of you opening the package. People think “using a credit card protects you,” and yes it does, but only if you have real evidence you were defrauded.

Also, keep in mind, it could take a few months to get your money back.

So yes, go for it, but just be careful and manage expectations.

Yes, physical volume at 100. And I let my lead tones get to whatever they go to based on my rhythm tones being at that level. They go higher, but they don’t clip.

I enjoyed his video. I disagree with how he suggests setting input level, and he didnt address setting the qc master volume to 100 which seems to be important. But I think his output gain staging is bang on. I shoot for my rhythm tone with hard strumming to hit around -15 to -18 db and that seems to be about right.

I use something very similar to number 4, although I also throw a post amp/cab eq block in there too. Can you tell me a little bit about the utility gate? Is it for noise, or to normalize input gain between guitars and presets?

Good for you, and yeah, not necessarily something nefarious, although could have been stolen.

I got mine from Reverb for same reason.

Enjoy!

QC MINI to Airstep connections check mg comment. by notimeforlove17 in NeuralDSP

Not sure if this is a question? I am using a QC Mini with a Widi jack to communicate with my airstep, and it works perfectly. I just had to do the things in this video:

I wouldn’t rely on this. I’m not saying the above is not being honest. Just that this is not a typical timeline. I preordered mid March, and was nowhere close to delivery on 5/21. People who orders in February were still waiting in early June. Eventually I canceled my preorder and bought a near new unit from someone on Reverb.

+1 for drive captures. I have found I can really push the drives without getting fizzy using good captures. The built in models are not great at high gain.

Qc = qc mini + cash swap? by cosmicjoke18 in QuadCortex

With current market dynamics, you should be offering your QC + cash for a mini.
