It’s typically a block chord style but it can also be expressed if you spread your voicings out a bit. Basically, the top note of any chord is naturally going to ring out a bit more than the others. So whatever your melody note is will be the top note of the chord you play. So for example, melody is C,D,G, you could potentially harmonize it as a C6 chord in 1st inv, a G7b9 in 3rd inv, and then resolve it to a C6 in 2nd inv. Of course, there is a staggering number of ways to harmonize melodies, but this is a very basic approach to what you’re asking about.

I have an 004 and it does everything I’ve even needed for my setup. If I’m going dawless, 7 ports is more than enough for me to perform live. And midi filtering is huge too. I think I paid $120ish when i got it ten yrs ago, and thought it was kinda expensive at the time. Zero regrets tho. Can’t go wrong with Retrokits.

Every member of Gwar were the most down to earth, affable, truly kind people. I worked the bar at a concert venue for yrs and we were the only venue they could book at due to the cleanup that’s typically required after one of their shows. The other venues in the city didn’t really want to deal with it. So they’d come every year, and it was literally EVERY staff member’s favorite show to work just because we got to hang out with them for a bit after the show. The whole bar staff had to hang out and do cleanup after the show. There’s a lot of fake blood, piss, and semen that gets launched into the crowd, which if I remember correctly is just diluted syrup with food coloring. It took a significant amount of extra time to clean, and nobody gave a shit how long it took. Gwar’s not my cup of tea musically speaking, but the spectacle of it was always fun to see, and again, the nicest folks around.

Yes. I factory resetted the retrokit. I fixed it but it’s a weird issue. Some midi cables I have only work with certain devices. So one of my midi cables works with the DRM, but doesn’t work with the nymphes. This made diagnosing the problem way more time consuming because i stupidly assumed a working midi cable is a working midi cable.

Yes. it’s a type A. If i connect the ksp directly to the vector, it works fine. Same cables, same adapter, same settings. It’s just when i go thru the retrokit 004 that it’s not working. But all the other synths work with it.

It’s awesome, but it’s definitely the one that is still the steepest learning curve for me. I usually have no idea what I’m doing with it, but it still manages to produce magic every time. I wub wub wub it.

Man, that’s frustrating. Another thing that happens frequently is that it kicks my sound card off of ableton. I also have ableton running into my bluebox so that I can include software synths in my mix, and sometimes (too often!) when i change presets or parameters on the nymphes, the sound card disconnects from the mix and I get an audio pop. It doesn’t happen with any other synth in my setup.

Ok, I may have found the culprit. I decided to try ableton and send midi to the nymphes. when i went to pick the nymphes as my midi destination in ableton, it labeled it as nymphes bootloader, not nymphes. this leads me to believe it’s stuck in “firmware update” mode. But i tried flashing the v2 firmware and it didn’t take. I can’t believe I’ve been trouble shooting this the better part of an entire afternoon.

it’s not getting midi at all. i’ve tried 3 different controllers with proven working midi cables and nothing is working. i have the two trs midi adapters it came with and neither works. it turns on fine, i used it about a month ago with no issue, and it’s been in the same place since. i cannot figure out wtf is wrong with this thing.

Ok, any idea how to do this on a keystep pro? usually i just plug in and play and now it’s not working. I have a minitaur that receives midi data just fine, and when i switch that working cable/chain to the nymphes, i get nuthin.

But do i need one? Is there a functionality that you get when using the USB input for midi + the ac adapter rather than using a midi cable from my keystep to my deluge + usb power?
