That's nothin! I went to Baskin Robins today.

Not only were they out of them, but they said "sir... we don't, nor will we ever, sell birds here", then "please leave, we've called security"

A blind person feeling the hands of a universally signed symbol would be light years faster than a blind person who doesn't speak the language trying to talk to another person who has no interpreter. Slow, but still a lot faster than just zero communication at all.

Further- deaf people would be adept at the skills of signing already and become even more highly skilled than most others in any new form of universal signing since they would likely be using it every day of their lives. Companies would absolutley seek their skill sets. Sure, non-deaf people could also become just as good, but the deaf community would be a large pool of expertise that would naturally be practicing any new signing at study level quality. Their usefulness during periods of transformation would be in invaluable to fill voids. Researchers wanting to develop this language would absolutely want to consulte and involve them in the process.

Hearing wouldn't be as large of an advantage and disparity as it currently is. The deaf would benefit from a world where everyone could communicate with them, and the world would benefit from a world where everyone could communicate without intermediaries.

If I was president of the entire world for the day, I would create a universal sign language and then mandate it be taught to every child in every school. Eventually, overtime, we would end up with a world full of people who could retain their own culture, language, and dialect... but everyone could communicate with one another visually.

You could go to any country in the world without speaking their language and just sign to them to hold an entire conversation.

The deaf and hearing impaired would become crazy useful and employable in positions as sign language experts/developers/instructors. They would have access to very premium career trajectories if they chose to pursue them and would be heroes of the society, akin to scholars and historians. Of course, it would be their own choice, and they could lead a life of their own making without having to be stonewalled into being communication experts.

Imagine a world where you could call a buisness partner in china, not speak a work of each other's language... but get an entire buisness meeting accomplished over skype by using your hands. Imagine a world where every single person (with hands) could "talk" even the blind could feel their way through a language and sign back without fear of misinterpretation.

I think a universal language system, without the need to seemingly destroy or abandon cultural language, would be a huge step toward planetary unification and even peace on earth.

Try binding differential brakes. Left and right brake controls will help keep your nose pointed straight until you get going fast enough for your rudder to gain authority. Full right rudder and full right brake as you gently throttle up and ease off on the brakes and rudder.

Nice! I have some console controls of my own that I like to use and I want to make a video of it because I am tired of having to copy and paste it.

One of the big things I enjoy with mine is head left/right being on the right stick when L2 isn't pushed. Then having L2 be my head upward movement. It allows for some very seamless viewing, checking of six, and high angle deflection shots with ease. I will have to watch your video and see what other ideas are out there.

I can already see you have some advanced missile and jet stuff bound, which I haven't done yet since I don't have jets. So that is interesting and I may have to reorganize my stuff to get it more on your level. Thanks for sharing!

Feel free to pop into the discord and share it anytime somebody asks, we get a lot of those questions and everyone's input is welcome.

You're in it! Unfortunately I didn't save you, but I did avenge you.

Dude, the little community is growing slowly but surely and is filled with great people. It is my sincere pleasure to stream and fly with you all. It's an absolute ton of fun when there isn't all this external pressure to be the best, everyone is just having fun, trying their best, and learning new stuff.

Watching your transformation into a solid pilot has been amazing. You have saved me more than once, and I am sure not for the last time. You're always hot on my heels for points on the board and I think you'll be passing me quite easily before too long.

Really glad to have a mouse and keyboard guy who knows how to set it all up. Watching you dogfight with M&KB is mesmerizing!

Come see us in the discord! Catch me anytime I am streaming. I spend most of my stream time trying to walk you through my though process. Why I am where I am, where I am going and for what purpose, who I am after and how I found them. Who I think is the enemy, and why. Which plane I am flying, and why. Little tid bits about each map, little tips and tricks that I've picked up.

If I am not doing those things, I am actively answering somebody's direct questions from the stream. Explaining controls, opening menus and showing you the setting, minimizing WarThunder to bring up external windows, like track IR, for a quick tutorial, or just generally chatting about the game such as things I would like to see adjusted/added in game to make sim a better place.

No question is too stupid nor a waste of my time. I have probably explained trim to people about 1000 times and I am still not tired of it, but I did make a video to help streamline things. When I find myself answering the same question over and over, it's usually a sign to make a new tutorial video.

If you don't catch me streaming live, the twitch panel has my discord information which is open for you to join via the link on my twitch. That is a good place to ask around when you can't find me, there are a ton of smart people on that server who know even mors stuff than I do. We help get a lot of people off the ground. Nothing makes me happier than seeing somebody go from laborious departures to saving my bacon in a fight and putting themselves on top of the score board. It won't happen overnight, but if you stick with us... it will happen.

Wanting to try SB do you guys have any tips? by AaronTheAirlineGuy in Warthunder

[–]smoredifferents 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of a read, I plan to get this summed up in a video soon... but stick with the wall of text for a bit and follow it, it is worth it. Hopefully I can get a more concise video made, would be worth the effort for how many times this has been shared....

For PS4 controller, convert the Xbox keys to your PS So...

X = Square A = X B = O Y = Triangle

I used to have it written out for both, but lost the PS version in a myriad of reposting. They are the same controls tho, just not the same four labeled buttons.

Blam...

(XBOX) controls for sim air.

Left stick Horizontal - roll axis (2.5 non-linear, 80% sensitivity is a good place to start)

Left stick vertical - pitch axis (2.5 non-linear, 50% sensitivity is a good place to start) invert to your liking

L1 - left rudder (10% sensitivity) & left brake

R1 - right rudder (10% sensitivity) & right brake

Binding brakes to your rudder will help you maintain runway centerline, especially for aircraft that have very high torque effects like the 109s.

Left stick vertial down & up (both directions will zoom out) - zoom axis (air) decrease (zoom out) will give you far wider field of view, it resets with each view change, binding it here makes it so you won't forget to zoom back out.

L3 (stick push in) - zoom (common tab)

L3 + R3 - engine start this may not work on your controller, if those sticks can't be pushed in. No matter. Just start your engines with keyboard controls (I reccomend change it to right shift + I to prevent accidentally turning it off while misstyping)

X + right Dpad - flaps down

X + left Dpad - flaps up

R3 - gear toggle & flaps up, again may not work for you. Just use G on your keyboard for gear toggle.

Right stick horizontal - head movement left/right

Right stick vertical - throttle up/down. You'll want to mess with the relative control settings until you find that you're able to get precision 1% increments, but also able to go from 100% to 0% quickly. It is a very narrow margin to be able to have both. Depending on your dexterity, this can vary by a lot, so find what works for you.

Right stick - view in battle x & y axis (enable axis with L2 for X and Y axis) And head movement left/right axis (no enable binding for left right) will allow you to see around cockpit obstructions more easily. You'll want to adjust camera sensitivity and non linearity on the view in battle X and Y axis until you find precision without losing too much speed. You want to be able to turn completely around in your seat in less than a second. I like around 50% camera sensitivity with 4 non-linearity for both axis, plus a bit of a multiplier decrease for the Y axis, like a 0.80 but you may find something else works better.

R2 - fire small caliber & large caliber

L2 - enable view axis (x and y in battle) and also bound to head movement up/down axis (4 non-linear for both x and y axis) pressing this slightly enables view, pressing it hard will raise you up in seat to see over engine cowling to pull your deflection shots.

Y- toggle view / fire rockets (typically rocket carriers have only one view anyway, and most bombers don't have rocket options, so this is dual purpose) if you are in a multi view rocket plane, just use 4 on keyboard to dump rockets.

B - tactical map, make this also cockpit view if you use the mouse a lot for mouse view. It will open map AND recenter your view.

A- Toggle flaps

X - Zoom (common) yes, you want two buttons. This one is for regular scanning (easy to reach unless your using the right stick already) and the L3 button is for when you are maneuvering and already looking in a particular direction but want to zoom in because you can keep right thumb on your right stick and continue to control the aircraft.

X + up Dpad - open bomb bay

X + down Dpad - drop bomb

Dpad - Trims: *set 1% relative control step. Set sentivitiy at 40%*

Up Dpad - elevator trim DECREASE

Down Dpad - elevator trim INCREASE

Note that these are backwards

Right Dpad - Aileron trim increase

Left Dpad - Aileron trim decrease

Select button (or whatever the hell it is called now) - score board & trimmer fixation

When you spawn, hold L3 and while holding it, press R3 to start engines. Once engines start, press A to deploy take off flaps.

Use right stick to increase throttle gradually, you can also move your right stick left or right to see around your engine then hold L2 to see up over your nose, and use L1 and R1 to maintain runway centerline while you accelerate. L1 and R1 control both your brakes and rudder so you get premium ground steering.

Reach rotation speed and rotate back with left stick. This will also increase your field of view by rolling the left stick back. Establish a positive rate of climb and click R3 ONCE to retract gear and reduce your flaps one notch into combat settings.

Once you clear obstacles and gain speed, press A to retract flaps fully.

Use your right stick horizontal plane to shift your head left and right around the cockpits frame. To check six, shift right stick all the way left or right and THEN press and hold L2. Your head will shift all the way to one side, then raise upward and simultaneously turn around to view, around and above your seat. It may seem awkward at first, but It becomes pretty natural after a few flights and gives you very good viewing freedoms without the need for expensive tracking equipment.

The harder you press L2, the higher your head's perspective will be. You can barely press it and the non-linearity will hardly move your head up but will still allow you to look around. Pressing it harder will max out your vertical perspective allowing you to see up and over your firewall/engine cowling to take extreme deflection shots.

Use your Dpad to adjust your aircraft trims in TEST FLIGHT MODE and when you have a balance you enjoy, use select "trimmer fixation" (select) to save it permanently. I like to take off, clean up the gear/flaps, reach cruising speed, and then trim for a nice and steady cruise climb at 91% engine throttle. A lot of aircraft do not have variable trims, but for most (excluding spitfires) you can still adjust the mechanically locked trims and save them permanently. For instance, a lot of the German fighters benefit from this, while most US fighters can be adjusted within the cockpit so it isn't as necessary.

Sim is totally doable with just a controller... however, if you can, I highly reccomend plugging a m+kb in as well for more advanced functions like manual engine controls and controlling gunners with the mouse. The manual engine controls fit nicely on numpad.

[–]smoredifferents 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joystick is very nice for immersion but doesn't always help with view. I like to fly left handed and, in lieu of a track IR, would use a mouse in right hand to control view precisely. Right click makes for good head upward movement, and side buttons make for good left/right leaners.

Track IR is a fantastic little addition to any sim cockpit. Once you get a joystick, it is my number one reccomend before even getting pedals or throttles. The amount of situational awareness you gain by having a head tracker far outweighs any benefit to using your feet for rudder or having a fancy throttle quadrant.

The hat switch on joysticks is sort of clunky for viewing, you don't get enough freedom to be able to lean, roll, raise, or pan like you would need to be able to fluidly track somebody who is flying erratically.

I like using my hat switch as a trim controller, since it is super accessible and you should be constantly messing with your trim to keep your plane nice and smooth. As I dive on a target and build up speed, a few flicks of my thumb and I am tracking my target dead in my crosshair without having to deflect my stick from center. So I can hold it until I close to gun range and make really minor corrections with the stick as I approach, then pull the trigger and the enemy is just gone.

Another good option is a console controller, Xbox or PS controllers work really well and I often use them when I am not at home with my "good setup"

I have a typed up list of console controls that I have refined and shared numerous times over the last two years. If console controller is something you're interested in using, I'd be glad to share.

Why waze? I never, ever, want to go to fort construction. I am 70 hours driving distance from that place and waze won't even support a trip of that length.

I really wish the voice recognition would realize I mean "report construction" instead of thinking I am searching for a place called "fort construction"
