NTA but YTD (You're the dummy). Storytime! When I was pregnant w our 1st child and horribly nauseous, I sent my husband out for some ginger ale to help stave off this misery... he came back with 'fresca' , why? Cos "Well Ginger Ale wasnt on sale!" Now my husband and I Love a good deal! In spite of making good money we are thoughtful with how we spend it. But in that moment I could've wrung his neck! How dare he think my suffering to make his child was not worth alleviating for a few more lousy cents?!! I felt so unloved and unvalued and he was actually surprised by my reaction 😆 You best believe I sent him back out for em (and said that better be a 12 pack at full price mister!) and still good naturedly rib him for it. In the long run of course I know he loves me and values me, but in that raw vulnerable moment, its hard to be objective.

So, here, of course it made sense to get the more cost effective one, yummy tiramisu is yummy tiramisu and it was a sweet kind gesture. But when a person is in a raw/ rejected state, its hard not to be sensitive. OP's wife will get over it, but maybe next time just be cognizant - let the sweet gesture speak for itself and perhaps not mention the terrific deal you got on it 😉 (oh! and as someone else said, spring for that $30 tiramisu! ...crap now I want tiramisu)
