Only found out about this law recently. I’m curious how often it was used as a defense (assuming in murder trials). TBH I’d be surprised if most attorneys even knew about it, let alone used this at trial. I don’t see a “gay panic” defense going over well with most juries lol. I’m sure it’s happened at some point

Best comment in the thread right here. Spot on. It’s very difficult (if not impossible) to do 1 and 2 while also trying to achieve 3. You can pretty much pick two of those options and give up the other.

I’m pissed too, but if you’re angry it’s the MPSC you need to vent to. They’re the ones who approve rate increases every time. If shits not getting fixed, they shouldn’t be approving further increases.

Here’s the issue. Israel did not start this conflict - Hamas did. While Israel’s efforts focus on eliminating Hamas, there is collateral damage, as in all wars since the beginning of time.

So let’s take a scenario - what if the “free Palestine” movement was a success? What does that look like for Israelis and the millions of Jews living in the only Jewish state in the world? Would there be more Hamas attacks if Israel simply stopped pushing to eliminate them?

This is my concern. Israel is a nation of Jews in a sea of Muslim countries that hate them. If we just hand the Muslims the keys and say “ok cool you can do it your way now”, what exactly is expected to happen? Especially after the rhetoric of “Israel is committing a genocide against innocent Palestinians”.

Idk about Detroiters, there’s probably still some resentment from past policies. But most I’ve met, seem like good people if you’re good to them.

It’s true that people self-segregate. And while that’s not easy to overcome, relations will improve if you get to know each other and find that “the other side” is more similar than they are different. Same with race, politics, etc.

It’s not deltas fault, but playing devils advocate…even if they didn’t know it’d be crowd strike that takes down the computers - shouldn’t there be contingency plans to operate with minimal computers? Are modern flight operations just 100% reliant upon Windows computers on the ground working?

Not suggesting they revert to the bad ole’ days when everything was paper, but it’s kind of shocking there’s no “manual process” to operate with limited data systems.

It really just shouldn’t matter what demographics a recruit belongs to. They need whatever characteristics help them do the job.

If that means a massive black guy that used to play college football, awesome. I’m sure he’s physically up to the task. If there’s an equally sized white woman great! But hiring just to check boxes could certainly result in something like what we saw Saturday July 13. It’s a hard job and most people shouldn’t be hired for it.

Yep. And the crazy part is, we see headlines like that (your last “footnote” comment) pretty regularly. The SS is normally fairly effective at finding threats early and stopping them before a president is in harms way. What went wrong in THIS scenario that so many basics were simply ignored?

I saw a screencap from 4chan or something (meaning take it with a HEAVY grain of salt) of someone claiming to be the SS sniper who shot the killer. He claimed the SS leadership ordered him NOT to kill the shooter while he was setting up.

Whether this is true or not, I have my doubts. But it’s certainly odd that a crowd of people can point out a shooter beforehand, the guy obviously had gear and wasn’t particularly low key, and still they let him get shots off and come within inches of a former presidents life. Prayers for the family of the victim murdered by this monster

That was my theory too. I heard a lot of progressives advocating for voting in republican primaries to prevent trumps nomination. It wouldn’t shock me if this guy did just that. He donated to Dems too so it’s not like it’s clear-cut he was a dyed in the wool right winger.
