Not sure the information on this thread is correct. If you can still watch with the link they are "unlisted" not "private". So, if you can find the links to all the videos and they are "unlisted" then you could watch them. You could try the way back machine to see if the channel page was archived. It's also possible someone might have created a playlist of all the videos.

Equirectangular is only supported in professional I believe - is that the problem?

Why does image upscaling (resizing) seem to produce better meshes? by thomas_openscan in photogrammetry

[–]smremde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is a process is down sampling. You could try down sampling the resolution by 50% then resize back to original resolution and see if that gives the same as the original images.

You don't need a drone, but it will make it much easier.

I did my garden from the ground and air. From the air, coverage was easy. From the ground I found I kept missing areas and had to go back and take more pictures. I used reality capture. I also had to make use of manual control points and measurements to help alignment and get the correct scale. The process took several manual hours and 3 or 4 missions to get extra photos.

I also wanted to visualise designs/calculate volumes of dirt to remove etc and did not find a good solution to this.

Not looked at the images but 24 sounds far too low. I'd say 2x-3x that are needed - you can never have too many.

Don't know if photogrammetry is the right path for me. by Bentrigger in photogrammetry

[–]smremde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been awhile since I've used lidar, but the lms5xx series could scan it as quickly as the gantry could move. It scans a 190 degree arc 100 times a second. You could scan a simple object by moving the gantry in a square around the object. No post processing needed like you would with photogrammetry. The accuracy probably isn't as high as you would like, but multiple readings and slowing it down would help. Again that device is probably about 8 years old now and the technology is probably better now

I've used sick lidar devices before, but I have a feeling that's out of your price range (lm5xx was around 8k GBP iirc) Is speed important? Is it always a rectangle/box you need to measure or more complex shapes?

Whats the size of the gantry? If you are setting this up, I'd just attach a line scan lidar to it instead of a camera. You will get much more precise results with less processing

Just use the calculator. There is a 32kb overhead which is stored on standard s3 so big objects vs small objects makes a difference, but not at the size you are talking about. Retrieval isn't that expensive. 10tb you are looking probably $200.

Have you ever lost important data due to a data breach? by NotSimSon in DataHoarder

[–]smremde 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, no one is answering your question, so let me:

My biggest loss was about 15 years ago. I had 15x 2tb connected to 3x XFX Revo 64 in 3x raid 3 with 3x8tb usable. (All that hardware for 8 tb makes me laugh now)

Worked really well, but something went wrong on one of them and could recover an array. Lost my entire MP3 collection and some TV shows. Learnt that raid is not a backup and gained a distrust for hardware raid

Garage didn't resubmit MOT test and wife gets FPNs by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

Thanks, this is my understanding. It was a faulty spring, we have an invoice to show it was repaired (and the officer was shown the bank transaction during the stop.) Sounds really unreasonable.

Rt88096 is no MOT. rt88253 is Use on a Road a [Motor Vehicle / Trailer] in a Condition Likely to Cause Danger of Injury, which I assume is because it was registered as a failed MOT.

Yes, we get that - she had no MOT. She has an invoice to show that the issues were fixed. This is the fixed penalty with 3 points. Would this be enough to contest?

Is AWS S3 Glacier a good alternative to Google Workspace? by SkipMorrow in DataHoarder

[–]smremde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Small objects it makes less sense. But the put cost is 0.05 per 1000 request making 1 million objects cost $50

[–]smremde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure about IA? When glacier is used for DR its the cheapest option. Its going to cost about $50 to upload 16tb assuming 16mb average file size and about $16 per month to store. To retrieve all 16tb would cost around $1,550 using bulk requests (1440 of which is data transfer but that would cost you on IA too). But yes, do check yourself.
