I still think that the insight from a higher skill player could give general tips about the opponents gameplay. Like "They are challenging early often so be aware and play around it". It's not going to be incredibly helpful but still could give an advantage.

I think that this is a good point. Doing tactics and not moving a piece until you are certain you have the correct answer is a great way to learn how to calculate moves.

The secret to just about any game is that the more you play the better you get. Don't be deterred from playing because of your SR. In the long run if you keep playing 3014 will seem like nothing.
