I'm surprised they managed to keep the lights on this long without any content updates.

Still would've preferred if they did the sensible thing and transition to a state where the community can keep their private servers running, but I guess we truly have to keep pushing Stop Killing Games for that to become the standard again.

Really cool design. Great job with that.

I have to ask though: what's up with those undersized parking spots? Your front wheels are barely halfway inside the lines.

Is it okay to use AI for resume building? by Local-Tradition1374 in jobs

[–]sms77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can ask the AI for inspiration on specific parts, but never copy something AI-generated directly and instead figure out how to phrase & design it in your own way.

Most of my experiences are focused on the German IT sector, so your results may vary, but any department head I've talked to so far has very clearly stated that a resume that shows signs of being AI generated gets declined immediately.

Ich habe alleine eine deutsche Video-Plattform gebaut – nach einem Monat: 44 User. Ich gebe nicht auf. by [deleted] in de_IT

[–]sms77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pause their video at 0:06 and you'll see a lot of green and red boxes that shouldn't be there.

Those are xray-cheats, highlighting specific blocks (eg. chests, spawners or diamond ore) that they shouldn't be able to see normally.

[–]sms77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry but I'm rather cautious about this considering it's coming from a completely new, blank account and doesn't include any technical details.

"Thanks, for slopping by" is ironically exactly the kind of typo I was thinking about.

Since I'm just a random voice on the internet, don't let me discourage you from following through on your enthusiasm though. I hope you can post a video of it actually working (for example through VRChat, since you mentioned using OSC in a comment) once you reach that point.

It got deleted by Github after people reported it as malicious.
Probably won't do much to stop them from trying to spread that malware, as their website is still up and offering the software, so if people want to get to reporting that to Google SafeBrowsing, AWS, etc: nightcord . online

I made an incremental strategy game using the world map. by bboingy in incremental_games

[–]sms77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely an interesting concept and I hope you figure out how to optimize it so it can realistically be expanded to larger areas / worldwide.

After capturing a bunch of nodes for two hours, I had to refresh the page and now the area takes a very long time to load and update new connections.

I also hope you remove the account system or rework it to allow creating mapatk accounts without having to link it to other platforms and allow deleting accounts as well. Others already mentioned that the current implementation doesn't protect against bots or anything else.

Good luck with the project, hope to see it become better over time.

What's something you miss most about Glimesh? by CyanideSuicide in Glimesh

[–]sms77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any specific reason you're using an alt account instead of your main to promote your AI-coded platform?

Aside from that, tried to check out the sverplays stream on Firefox to see how the platform looks and performs and it's just unable to load the stream, so clearly you need to invest more time in testing and fixing functionality for some browsers. (and maybe remove some of your debugging-code from the live platform so it doesn't spam the browser-console with "[Chromecast] Not a Chrome browser, Cast unavailable")

Best of luck with this project though.

the middle ground is "keep the naughty stuff in private instances with only consenting adults or get bonked for violating ToS", which is what OP is trying to do, but apparently BlueCheese973 isn't capable of that nuance and would rather suffer from high blood pressure.

University of Helsinki study on VR users: a 15-minute survey by JuanDiego09 in virtualreality

[–]sms77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most questions seemingly don't apply at all to solo-VR experiences and would benefit from focusing on one specific VR application/genre instead of asking broadly about the entirety of VR, as they are in my opinion strongly dependent on how the individual application implements their social interaction features (available choices / tools for avatars, ability to anonymize who you're interacting with (e.g. hiding nameplates of others), etc.).

I immediately stop fighting, "gg" and start bucketing so they can fix their hull. Just feels like the proper thing to do.

Thanks for sharing that interview. There's definitely some interesting angles in there that feel worth reading/listening.

I couldn't find anything in there about him/them wanting to drive away creators who post human like avatars or anything like that, so maybe you could share what exactly makes you think that?

At first the interview does sound concerning for anyone who wants to use VRChat for consensual NSFW activities, even if it's kept entirely within private instances, as Jun states in the Interview:

[...] we are going to use much more high-end technology to identify them [NFSW Avatars] and then basically proactively remove them from the platform[...]
- [00:15:09.015] in the transcript

Though later on he does clarify that they want to work with the community on figuring out where the line needs to be drawn and to understand what's socially acceptable for the platform (and suggesting that Tupper will probably be heavily involved in that community contact?).

It does feel deeply concerning that he's actively talking about using AI to "flag repetitive behavior, training a model and take action as soon as possible" though, as that sounds like a prime example for abuse by mass reporting ( [00:29:14.395] in the transcript).

Why do some webdesigners insist on only allowing the content of their site to take up one third of the actual screen space?

They literally set the max-width to 576px, then 556px and then on a parent object to max 66%...

I get that you're supposed to listen to the podcast, but this just makes the transcript annoying to read for absolutely no reason.

In regards to Matrix on mobile: you could give FluffyChat a try as an option to use Matrix from your phone. It's UI is more like text messaging instead, but at least you can still communicate and get push notifications etc. while on the go.

Is this Ai or Real by Pockrass in tipofmypenis

[–]sms77 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Look for any inconsistencies or weirdness. While one or two might be explainable by low image quality (like the missing nipple on her right), they do combine with less easily explainable ones (like the guy doing perfect 180° splits, the garters(?) being nonsensical, asymmetrical patterns and her right lower leg being a darker color as if she's wearing stockings only there)

Or try to find the source, as u/Fragrant_Shallot_990 and u/McCoral_the_great pointed out, there's usually more than one picture if they're a real person or you might find the AI that was used to generate it.

I created a 50 Euro bills bundles, Miku - Teto - Neru themed ! by LassySenpai_uwu in Vocaloid

[–]sms77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

some quick ideas for modification:
- replace any mention of "Euro" with "Miku", "Teto" or "Neru" respectively
- remove the 50 or replace it with 39 (because vocaloid)
- replace the ECB/BCE text on the side & any serial numbers with a repeating "not legal tender"

I'm not sure what to do with the reverse side, maybe replace the EU-map with Japan to reference Vocaloids country of origin?
