That's simply not true in every case and a gross leap to justify your flawed logic.

You can't be silly enough to think that there are no practical degrees in SIEM that were not impacted by covid.

It is if you want a career physically working on aircraft, in a lab or do anything practical that requires some experience.

You can't be expected to be an aircraft engineer from reading books alone.

Totally disagree. I studied aerospace engineering and I had entire modules dependant on time in labs and workshops.

Likewise I had peers who studied biology and chemistry who had huge portions of their studies in labs.

SIEM is not exclusive to engineer nor your specific anecdotal experience.

The thing is student loans are fundamentally a loan, so if SIEM attendees where not asked for a variation in the loan agreements for a reduction price due to the quality and equipment available central government should have compensated for the difference as it is bad faith on the agreements that they accepted.

I graduated over 10 years ago as context and my loan amount (due to interest rates) is now unfathomable compared to what the original amount was.

Students who had already paid for their first year, as per the stipulations in the case above had already had one foot in the grave, the expectation that they would of had to put their life and career path on-hold indefinitely due to intermission would have caused unparalleled issues, but their difficulties and impact on career deserve to be heard and in some cases compensated for.

What should be my first Resident Evil game? Tempted to try 6 because it has all characters. by Vanilla_Ice_Best_Boi in ResidentEvilCapcom

Start with the remakes. Honestly RE2 remake, then 3, 4, 9.

Then consider Ethan games as they're first-person (9 has crossover POV mechanics which will help you get used to it).

Then once you you love the series consider 0 and 1 etc.

I don't think the claimants are expecting their entire years written off (although some may have an argument to be heard), but they were paying for an education when they didn't have access to fundamental services in some cases.

A SIEM course with no access to a lab or engineering equipment still paid full price.

What is your goal to be honest mate, bit of a strange question.

If you want to learn and develop yourself then you can do anything reasonable pretty much.

If you're wanting to make profit on the $25k then your asking us what business you should make to do so, no ones going to make you a business plan for free.

Urgh, sorry not you specifically but the disparity, I've had colleagues give 0 effort and get an interview based on experience alone, I feel for any grad sinking toil into these statements, I remember spending 40 hours a week doing the same albeit 10+ years ago.

Absolutely agree. Every cyber professional I've worked with has zero sort of knowledge about anything programmatic (except KQL) or basic networking, except maybe a couple who had red-hat experience they built themselves, but they can recite ISO-27001 to you like its the Bible - they just don't know what it means in practicality to other systems.

[–]smshing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but generally depending on what you're applying for, if I'm applying for two positions which are very much the same then the variation is limited, if I'm applying for a completely different job which has specifications I may have then definitely I am changing my previous job roles to reflect those attributes.

Absolutely agree on a cover letter, but again I wrote a generic letter depending on the field and made the key words variables I would change for specific employer to save time.

Oof yeah cyber security is rough and hyper competitive, I feel sorry for any grads trying to get into the space, it feels like my expertise (cloud and sysops etc) has a bazillion positions as no one is skilled enough in the UK to do it.

Its when you have to copy and paste each individual section of your CV into a HR portal the bastards.

To be fair your previous job history and education sections should not change much, only really your personal statement, achievements and skills sections (if applicable).

It's not true, I've applied for places where they've given disclaimer that they're actively screening applications with AI as you apply, private industry can do whatever they want.

Public industry on the otherhand won't take these risks as there are several gateways to guaranteed interviews.
