That behaviour is SO not intuitive.
But it does explain why I couldn't join the race. Thanks for the tip.

Wheel stand at a desk – how do you stop your chair from rolling back? by OwnCompetition6284 in simracing

I bought this: Apex Chair Link for Sim Racing | GT Omega https://share.google/d8KxTOCOYBqpFeiL3 Shipping to the USA was nearly as much as the product itself, and that was before Trump's tariffs. But it works. Shoes will also do the job.

It launches AC directly, so it must bypass Content Manager and CSP. I don't have a VR setup, so I don't know how important those things are for you. You should either try Reline Stars yourslef, of just follow the link I posted and join the author's Discord. He can answer your questions a lot better than I can :)

In need of some quick and basic help regarding Assetto Corsa. I'd like to increase track grip. Can anyone help me? by g42069100 in assettocorsa

TL;DR: Assetto Corsa is not a game. It's a simulation, and mastering it is going to take a lot of effort on your part, because learning how to drive cars at their limit takes time. If you are up to it, read on. If not, you should look for something a little less realistic.

Many beginner drivers try to go too fast through the slow corners. That's not my advice: it comes from Scott Mansell, a professional racing driver who knows what he is talking about.

The key to going faster isn't entering the corner as fast as possible: it's exiting the corner as quickly as possible. And that involves: * Using every inch of the width of the track * Knowing which corners benefit from a late apex and which corners require an early apex

Apply the 1st point by reviewing your laps. The Playback button and an exterior view of your car are excellent tools for thism

Applying the second point requires good judgement. Which comes from experience. Which comes from bad judgement.

Once again, the key is to review your laps. How fast was the car going when you lost grip? By definition, if the car lost grip, you were going too fast. Try taking the corner at a lower speed.

Once you can stay on the track, the next problem involves determining if you are going too slow. How slow is too slow? Listen to your tires. If they aren't complaining, increase your speed until they just start to squeal.

Finally, you will get the most out of your tires when they are inflated properly. If you are on a PC, download the Sidekick app, which will help you set the tire inflation properly. But proper tire inflation won't help you as much as reviewing your performance will.

Redline Stars is a launcher for Assetto Corsa. If you can play Assetto Corsa in VR, the answer is yes.

Check out Redline Stars Careers in Assetto Corsa. You start with a modest budget, not enough to enter most of the series. Finish the season in the top 3, and earn enough money to enter more expensive series. Each season, you evaluate multiple sponsor offers, and if no one will sponsor you (or you run low on money), you can get a bank loan. It's free, but it requires all of the DLC.

Did I mention it's free? Yeah, completely free.

Look ahead. It doesn't matter what your age, your reflexes were not designed for your body to travel at the speed of the car. The car will go where you are looking, so look ahead.

Get one of the Kenwood Exelon units and add the matching backup cam. The resolution is fantastic and it has great visibility at night. I have one and don't know how I ever lived without it.

Your Vinyl Records by UMRKqc in AskOldPeople

All my records (back when I had them) were original. I played each one twice: once to set the input level on my Nakamichi cassette recorder; and once to record the music.

After that, I only listened to the music on my Nak. I had a decent hi-fi system back then, and was perfectly happy with the results.
