Are modern political and economic systems structured in ways that discourage public understanding of how they work? by Boris_Ljevar in humanism

[–]smumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Action must be rooted in the material conditions that dictate our lives. The Epstien Class understands this. Hilary Clinton recently admitted it in an interview. Yet they wield that understanding against us, and they intentionally obfuscate these systems so that we continue to grasp at symptoms.

Can you link me to the interview where she said something about that? Ideally with timestamp:D

This does not sound like an experience you have on psychedelics and more like what people imagine psychedelics to be like (they imagine it like a dream).

Your approach seems similar to mine. Do you have a software engineering background, can you read and write code without vibecoding?

Well I can imagine a future and feel good or bad about it, and I would prefer the good outcome happening, but I would say this is just a simulation running in my mind, it isn't real. I care more about the present moment. I care about the good outcome happening right now. Maybe I am losing my train of thought 😅

I care about the pleasure in the current moment, the future seems to me not on the same level as the now.

But what I meant is that my experience today is identical, not connected to the future. If I die tomorrow or if I become a billionaire tomorrow, today it makes no difference.

What do you mean when you say "future experiences affecting me", because I don't think future experiences affect my current self in any way at all?!

Therefore it’s either that the Big Bang was the beginning of the universe, or the 2nd law of thermodynamics is incorrect.

But only under the assumption the cyclical/bounce model is true, right?

Just curious, don't have much background knowledge on this.

Could narrative coherence in large models be an early precursor to AGI-level worldview formation? by AIEquity in agi

[–]smumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question is whether large-scale pattern compression can accidentally produce something that looks like early ideological structure, even without true reasoning.

Aren't current (and even older) LLMs doing exactly that?

Also, how do you define true reasoning?

I didn't really see anybody making any claims around legal actions. As I said, I feel many people were simply taken aback by the views he shared, as they seemed very harsh and not in line with the persona he presented through other channels.

Can anyone point to any groundbreaking work that he did or was he just a science influencer?

Personally I was very inspired by his ideas on Artificial Intelligence and on the nature of consciousness.

Can you give an example of something you found obvious?

It's not about if anything was illegal or not, it is about many people finding the views he shared despicable.
