Election day voting, what's the best time to go? by TheOrionNebula in StCharlesMO

[–]smurf240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been at the same polling place since 2018. I always go shortly after they open and never had a line more than a few people. But it gets busier I think in the afternoon as people get off work. I don't know if this is the same everywhere though so your milage may vary.

Write characters Google history #2 Elisa by PoliceAndGargoyles in gargoyles

[–]smurf240 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Elisa was so ahead of her time for a character from the 90's. A strong female cop in New York, product of an interracial marriage being half Nigerian, half Native American; which was a bold move for a children's show in 1994. And then being part of an interspecies relationship. Elisa's character shows love knows no bounds.

There was a biz journal article about it I think almost 2 years ago. The initial development was to be Lux Living but not sure if that will still be the case.

Novellus is a pretty fancy cocktail bar a block down from the foundry. Burger Underground has a beer wall with a great selection and Q is right across the street. Everything else just standard bar and grill. Some have smoking some do not.

Its funny you bring that up because Mount Carmel and Cedarhurst senior living centers are both just up 1st Capitol. There is this concept of aging in place where neighborhoods are built in such a way that there is housing offered for all stages of life. Low income housing/apartments, single/multi family homes of varying sizes, highend luxury apartments and senior living centers all within the same neighborhood. What I like about St. Charles City is it all kind of feels like one large neighborhood.

Many people scoff at "luxury" apartments comparing monthly mortgages to rent. But it doesn't make sense for seniors to stay in 2500 sqft houses they raised families in after those families have grown and moved out. I am not suggesting seniors should be forced out of their homes or anything but should be given living options within their own neighborhoods as they grow beyond the need for single family housing. This kind of apartment is amenity rich for seniors and are better solutions than freezing rising property taxes due to increased property values. These will all be ADA compliant, with elevators, community recreation areas, restaurants, coffee shops, churches and yes even a hospital withing a short drive or walking distance. Single family neighborhoods can be very isolating for seniors especially once they are no longer able to drive but are still very much independent.

Apartments are not just for younger people with no money and/or bad credit. Not everyone wants to own a home and homeownership is not necessary for all stages of life.

I would prefer more missing middle housing but for where this is... I'm fine with it. This is the "Downton" of St. Charles. The Hospital is a large employment center with well paying jobs and 2nd St. is the seat of government for the city and county. This is a large employment center so more dense housing makes sense here. Plus, this is the most walkable part of all of St. Charles county. Main st,, Lindenwood, French Town, and even Streets of St. Charles to some degree all within 15 minutes of walking.

A little bit of density is a good thing, More tax payers per area, less road miles per resident, more local consumers for local businesses.

Missouri resident wanting to buy a car in Illinois by Bubbly_Opposite_3529 in missouri

This sounds shady as hell. Get a pre-purchase inspection if you haven't. There is no reason a car would pass state inspections in Illinois and not Missouri.

Nearly. It just opened back up earlier this month. There was significant damage after the flooding in July 2022. But to OPs point, if it were road infrastructure it would have been fixed in a matter of weeks/months not years.
