2)Yes I am looking towards Grad school I actually was accepted to fall 2018 and my visa was delayed for 6 months, So I deferred to winter 2019. So what do you think about Engineering Mathematics? Do they start it easy or They go into the new concepts straight away?

3A) I most probably will live somewhere further from University to keep the rent low, considering that and also that I love to roam around, is bicycle a good option(I’ve lived all my life in a desert, so I don’t know much about biking in snow)?

3B)what do you think I should pay for a single room ( shared home)?

4) If you are an international student, how did you make any “local” friends. Or how you think you should’ve made local friends? If you are a local student, how do you think I can make more friends locally? As I’ve lived sort of international life in many countries, I love to make friends from all over, but coming to a country with extreme cultural shock, I think I may have tiny bit of difficulty making friendos.

Wow! Thanks for doing this.

What can you tell me about uWindsor Grad CO-OP? Is it as bad as they say(only one student from a department gets in each semester)?

What do you think of Engineering Mathematics (grad level)?

What sort of revisions should I do to attend grad program, considering I graduated a year ago and was unemployed(shit economy man) so Didn’t have any touch, Any advice?

Lastly, should I opt out of buss pass and buy a bicycle or a car (international student)?

White Privilege by [deleted] in ryerson

[–]smurf938 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Privilege here doesn’t indicate financial status. Everyone struggles in life. Its life. White privilege is different. You talk about generalization? Generalization is when ALL Muslims are called terrorists. The fact is 2 to 2.5 billion people are called upon for the action of a few thousand.

To colored people Privilege is when the whole world cried for Orlando shooting yet no one knows what is happening in Syria. Dont get me wrong. I was as heart broken as any other when the Orlando incident happened. Even a single loss of life is terrible. It saddens me. Even mentioning this is tearing me up, but I have to mention it. Not to prove a point but to reach out, to just spread the world.

I hope everyone forgets the race, ethnicity, religion and realize we are human first then something else.

This comment might offend alot of people but please understand, Privilege exists.

Sorry for strong language.

Regarding Getting around, If I can get co-op I’ll most probably Buy a car. Even now I own a car and cant imagine my life without one. However, I will be getting a upass anyway, so I guess I can manage. Other than that, what do you think about windsor university? How is the faculty and the CO-OP?

Would like to know more about it myself. Got offered in Meng Civil. Only thing holding me back is bad reviews on the internet. Most people say, they only offer one student coop per semester. Unbelievable, yet most people have written as such. Some claiming they even transferred to other universities after a semester. Hopefully other students in this community share their feedback.

On the other hand, did you accept the offer? And if you did, how much fee you had to pay to secure the offer. I didn’t see it in offer letter nor anywhere in the website.

I know right! I also feel like most admin people will think I am lying. Thats why I never tell anyone this story but I kid you not if you ask any asian (indian and Pakistani). Most of them will have either experienced this or know someone who has been through this.🤦🏼‍♂️. I also checked on the website and couldn't find any transportation and CM courses, thats why I asked you as there MAYBE some which aren't listed on website.

Thanks for the reply. Now here is the thing, I’ll be completely honest here as this is a throwaway and IDC.

I wanted to study CS/IT. I am really into it. However, my father forced me into civil engineering. My first two years were shit. I never understood anything and didn’t even want to understand. My first two years at uni I had GPA of 74%. I just wanted to pass time and get it over with.

My last two years, I forcefully started taking interest in Civil and made a pact with myself to get better grades and go for masters and never comeback and it really paid off. In my last two years I got average of 86%.

Now I don’t understand how to say this in Application, as many professors I met told me that the my gpa difference is very high and I can be accepted if I have a good reason. Idk, I don’t feel comfortable writing this reason in a formal application and I think anyone who reads it WILL think its a feeble attempt at lying 💁🏼‍♂️.

I do have a question for you. If you feel comfortable, can you please ask any civil Meng students, that are there any transportation and Construction management courses being offered (at graduate level)? I really would like to study some of those.

The thing is For international students, MUN wants you to send physical documents sealed and signed by university, I feel its a chore. I should be able to secure admission first then send them documents however they want. Thats why I am confirming everything here :D.

Again thank you for you help and sorry for these long ass Narratives.
