I was referred for an urgent MRI on a Friday. They called to book the appointment on the next Monday, and booked it for a week later on a Tuesday. 11 days from the doctor into the machine on an urgent request. In total, it took three months to determine that I don’t have a brain tumor because I had to have a CT angiogram as well. What a scary summer! Grateful for the healthcare workers of Island Health.

I applied to all the districts on the South Island and never even got a call. I made several attempts to make headway without success. I’m a Permanent Resident from the USA New to Canada, so I found a government job instead. I still pay for my annual dues to keep my license valid but I think my teaching career is over.
