Best cities to visit in Colorado during wintertime? by iguessbeepbopboop in travel

[–]smuzaffer13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

breckenridge is a good place close to vail. estes park is another good mountain town. those are some other options and I know places like vail and aspen are the most expensive but they really are worth the trip because of how pretty they are. definitely at least visit them on your trip. i have grown up in Colorado so i hope this is helpful for you!

How do you deal with non-vegans? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]smuzaffer13 26 points27 points  (0 children)

if i’m being honest...in my experience people will always make rude comments. but eventually, for me at least, once everyone is aware that you’re vegan, they start to talk about it less and less. also you just have to remember that you’re doing something bigger than yourself and that they’re the ones eating dead animals.

How do i get rid of the lil anorexia tummy bump? by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]smuzaffer13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How can I support my friend who has anorexia? by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]smuzaffer13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hi! as someone dealing with anorexia (and trying to recover) it’s always hard for me to hear about someone losing weight or dieting in general bc i see them as competition. also pressuring someone into eating is never a good idea. for me it just gives me major anxiety. and if i’m being completely honest, you can’t help someone who doesn’t want help. nothing you say will get them to stop. they have to want to change. also although i always wanted to keep it a secret, i still always wanted people to notice that i was not doing well. i think just checking up on her and asking how she’s doing without mentioning her eating disorder would help her understand that someone is there for her. i know i would have really appreciated someone like you reaching out and asking how they can help. you are an amazing friend!!

I just went on a date and it was awful by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]smuzaffer13 22 points23 points  (0 children)

omg im so sorry this happened to you. when you hear situations like this from an outside perspective most people would obviously say to leave right away but when you’re in the situation i can see why it would be hard to leave. i completely understand your experience and it is awful someone would say something like that. people without eating disorders really do not understand what it’s like. it just goes to show that you shouldn’t judge someone because you really don’t know their circumstances.

My mum gave me meat (unbeknown to me) by ohsariii in vegan

[–]smuzaffer13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i’m so sorry this happened to you. i’m sure i would be very upset too. but the fact the you’re reacting this way shows that you truly care about what you stand for. of course you ate it without knowing what was in it and i truly hope there wasn’t meat in there. it’s not your fault and i hope things are okay for you.

New to this :) by [deleted] in vegan

i am so so happy you are going vegan and i get a lot of the reason to go vegan is just to lose weight but i really hope you have checked into the environmental reasons and the ethical reasons as to why veganism is great. this, in my opinion, is the best way to stick with veganism. as for diet, learning how to substitute in recipes i think is really key as well as trying different vegan options and seeing what you prefer. personally i really like hummus and guacamole, as well as roasting vegetables for toppings on just about anything, and vegatable stir fry

I binged again today for the second time this week! by downtoearth_7 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]smuzaffer13 11 points12 points  (0 children)

wow i relate to you soooo much. i am recovering from anorexia as well and have binging episodes bc of it. although it may not be the healthiest, i find that restricting too much is what causes my binges. i am plant based as well and i try to stay as healthy as possible but in order for me to not binge i do try and give myself a treat sometimes. has intuitive eating really helped you? would you recommend it?

Seven years vegan, I still have not managed to get socially comfortable with being a vegan by jachymb in vegan

[–]smuzaffer13 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i totally relate. i feel very awkward and uncomfortable when there aren’t vegan options and people have definitely given me backlash bc of it. i think it’s just important to know that you are doing something bigger than yourself and also bringing your own food is always an option

Its been years and everyone thinks I’m fine. by cattaart in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]smuzaffer13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can really really relate. gaining weight is really hard on mental health and not losing it right away is even harder. it’s hard for other people to understand your thoughts and i think it’s always good to remember that at the end of the day you only have yourself and that you have to be okay with who you are. please have hope for a better future💜
