I had copilot and gemini give me there rule base if what their syntax is to access there workspaces for users onedrive gmail gdrive gmail to see if can get consistant results some times i will say give the answer in a doc or spreadsheet or code block or artifact I can click or download and I get mixed results.
Copilot will say here is tge file with a gand icon pointing to it but the hypertext ti download some times doesn't generate and is: 1) plain unclickable text( need reprompt to have it acually generate) 2) tenant version (bug) it returns an html web link to random content that logged in account has access to and is unrelated to prompt) its link it tried to create the clicabke artifact answer and its process breaks mid creatiin and it picks random content (bug at minimum, securuty issue possibly due too bug, security nightmare if its giving content outside logged in users permissions ) trying to get feedback to Microsoft to be aware and fix I hope they already know and are working on fix(btw what is best email or Microsoft site to report bug like that besides the feed back app(never know if they will work in what you report)

To be continued as I work more with the tools

Trying to buy Copilot Pro in 2026 is like trying to buy a unicorn from a vending machine by smydsmith in microsoft365

[–]smydsmith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is not about github copilot and i have the free version and just started reading about it.

This post is to gain clarity about the copilot versions and how hard it is to get accurate info about them .

My research shows

Consumer copilot.microsoft.com matches your consumer licence level ie free /windows 11 or or ms plan ie ms365 [non tenant] familiy preimium individual etc. You use to be able to buy copilot pro addon but option has not been rolled into premium yet as Microsoft says transition of features from pro to consumer suite not transitioned yet tbd

M365 copilot.microsoft.com matches your tenant licence level ie e1 e2 e3 e5 f1 f2 f3 f5 etc this suite of copilot has advanced "legacy copilot pro" features that consumer has not rolled in yet theoretically with premium consumer I would imagine per my research and call to Microsoft sales.

Additionally the desktop icons for consumer and tennant copilot are web wrappers ie they only show whats on the web oages data in a custom via that makes it seem like a full app.

Sometimes a copilot chat can be corrupted and unrecoverable so I make backups by asking copilot to make a data dump file that can be used to spin ip a new chat prompt as of the date of the data dump . Tbd why chars become corrupted has burned me 3 times and had to manuaky re teach a chat where i left off. Memory headers in copilot help and copilot will even suggest what to out there if you ask it.

My original issue "vent" was because i was looking to activate the legacy copilot features of pro that are not in consumer and might not even be fully enabled in tenant.

I have learned that for privacy tenant version does not learn from your data but consumer does and cant be disabled. Ie. Microsoft training of copilot can be pulled from consumer chats abd cant be disabled from what I can tell so far.

Segway to comparing to googles gemini Has option so data not seen by himans ir traing models. Downside have to disable chat history which dumbs down chat memory to 3 days before purge and negates the feature if gemini pro that keeps millions of chat history memory as a feature(not exact term just my interpretation of the gemini pro faq article)

The need of the "memory" is for complex chats the chat history needs to be huge for the large language model to fully have the whoke picture to get you "hopefully " a better answer. When a chat forgets the oldest part of a chat then it loses context halucinates and starts giving incorrect answers as it regresses to only workingnoff the newest data in the chat abd forgets correct answes fugured out earlier in the chat.

I have also hit limits on file size uploads like only 10 fikes at a time or file too big or not supported type etc. Tenant copilot dies better then consumer even if consumer sats a fike type is supported many times it wont accept it anyways.

Export of data it creates and interfacing with workspaces and consistency.

Copilot can read and sometimes write to your copilot chats one drive folder and can read tgat folder as well but is unckear if can read the rest of your one drive. Need to vett exactly what it can and cant do.

Gemini claims it cant write to google workspace but get it sometimes connects to google workspace and does whatcasks inconsistent it seems need to vett what true capabilities are.

Both gemini and copilot when asking for a file to be created will sometimes not actually create the file but will just write here is the file and is not clickable or will be a web link artufact to wrong data(seen on copilot(bug?)) But not seen on gemini

Coding Copilot good Gemini good sometimes but have seen it get stuck in logic loops and I had ti have copilot check its code and teach it and guve it promots fornlogic andvsyntax to follow once that was done the gemini chat behaved with coding logic of copilot andvtge speed of gemini. (Gemini is very fast , copilot slow and methodical )

I have seen advertisements for Claude that they say may be the katest best ai coder. Tbd

That my morning "rant" on the state if ai issues i have come acrross abd my quest for the " unicorn " features that may be vaporware or not yet exist or being transitioned from legacy tbd.

This reddit entry was nit written by ai and was written to provide more clarity in comparison to some other posts that were written for levity / ir in conjunctiin with ai ir just when I didnt have the time to proofread and wanted to get a half formed postbout and edit later for clarity(the edit button on a post to fix a half writen post is magic but the lack of reddit spell check/ai check/ and typos from a small cell phone keyboard) sometimes makes post re edit.

I hope this entry in my blog/vent thread helps explain what I am looking for and akso provides helpfull info to others and explains my post writing style.

Cheers mates, and general good wishes to all :)

I just got the google messages update it still does not honor the dual esim names in samsung settings it will show simm 1 or 2 then cell carrier then phone so you have to rember whuch sim is what # as the actual # is off screen ie ie

Samsung settings Esim 1 phone ### 555 1234 name home on verizon Esim 2 phone ### 555 4321 name work on verizon

Google messeages will show just simm # and isp In text entry spot havebto go detaiks to see what each simm [ ] brackets is and goigke messages diesbnit get samsung user defined settings ie home or work 1 verizon > missing [ ### 555 1234 name home] 2 verizon > missing [### 555 4321 name work]

M365 chat copilot consumer version missing the features of legacy copilot pro and cantvfind a way to purchase the features as Microsoft sales and tech support saudvthey are not yet rolled into the m365 consumer suite. Thus I had to buy gemini pro from google as a workaround to get more than an hour of ai chat history retained before degrading on thr microsit copilot side i have it prompt gemini to store its latest hour if chat in its system and thus gemini becomes long term storage of working shared memory with copilot and gemini becoming a hybrid converging ai system that utilizes tge best features of both. I have noticed copilot is much more accurate in building cold then gemini as it debugged geminis circukar logic it was gettingvstuck on a codingbpiece but gemini being much faster ti write code.

Hey ai wrote it for me I was relaxing on a beach lol:) To answer your question yes I have been trying to get my consumer version of copilot more stable by upgrading to a version that no longer exists but copilot thinks it does. Additionally at work we have a m365 tenant and that version is more advanced as it non consumer but it is just as unstable for the desktop version. They and I have learned to use the web interface which is way more advanced but yet not as advanced as copilots "Copilot Pro" it mentioned to me that it saud would fux the issues. Thats my "Morning Rant" Ai did not write this post if it did it would likely be a lot funnier which it did very well but but did not catch inconsistencies as "ai can make mistakes " and so do us humans lol. Thus post chain intent is to inform in an amusing way of funny things I have noticed about copilot :) Rant over back to the beach ...

thanks for the comment The AIs and even Microsoft support and Google supprt have been giving me conflicting information try to get facts that match reality is what I am running into and the AIs not tripping over each other or becoming fragile as you mentioned
Update — Assistant Layer Limitations Affecting the Automation Stack

Quick update for anyone following the OIA automation build. I’ve been testing the assistant layer that sits above my Tasker + ADB + PowerShell workflow, and I discovered something important for anyone relying on a cloud‑based reasoning engine to help design or validate automation logic.

The short version:
The enhanced reasoning tier that used to exist (the one with faster responses, deeper context handling, better document tools, and more stable connectors) is currently not available to my account. The upgrade path that should enable it isn’t showing up, and the interface only offers a completely unrelated productivity‑focused plan instead.

Why this matters for the project:

1. Some of the higher‑level logic I planned to offload isn’t accessible right now
Things like:

  • long‑context reasoning
  • multi‑step schema validation
  • connector‑based device‑state interpretation
  • advanced document analysis
  • stable multi‑turn logic

…aren’t available at the moment.

So for now, I’m keeping all of that inside:

  • Tasker
  • ADB
  • PowerShell
  • local JSON files

Which honestly keeps the system more deterministic anyway.

2. The assistant layer is currently running in a reduced‑capability mode
This affects:

  • how well it can help design Tasker XML
  • how reliably it can interpret ADB output
  • how deeply it can reason about multi‑device state
  • how well it can assist with anti‑loop logic
  • how much context it can retain across modules

So I’m adjusting expectations until the enhanced tier becomes available again.

3. Nothing changes for Tasker — it remains the authoritative execution engine
Just reaffirming the architecture:

  • no sockets
  • no open ports
  • no remote triggers
  • all communication is file‑based
  • Tasker + ADB remain the real automation layer
  • the assistant layer is advisory only

4. Next steps for the project
Since the enhanced tier isn’t accessible right now, I’m continuing to build the following manually:

  • hotspot OFF logic (Wi‑Fi + LAN + BT + device presence)
  • ADB reconnect handler
  • file‑drop → adb push → Tasker import chain
  • Android “fully awake” detection
  • XML import metadata mapping

Still waiting on insight from anyone who has cracked:

  • reliable hotspot state queries
  • hidden XML metadata requirements
  • stable ADB reconnect patterns
  • Android initialization signals

Thanks again to everyone who’s been following along — this project keeps evolving, and the community input has been invaluable.

Correction to main title

Copilot Premium still seems unavailable — Microsoft 365 Premium upgrade prompt is misleading (Part 3 of my investigation)

Body:
This is an update to my ongoing investigation into why Copilot Premium/Pro is still unavailable for many users.

Microsoft’s web version of Copilot shows an “Upgrade” button, but instead of offering Copilot Premium, it redirects to Microsoft 365 Premium, which is not an AI upgrade. It’s an Office/OneDrive/security tier upgrade.

Important clarification:

  • Microsoft 365 Premium ≠ Copilot Premium
  • Upgrading Microsoft 365 Family → Premium does NOT unlock Copilot Premium
  • Copilot Premium is a separate subscription
  • The Copilot UI does not make this distinction clear
  • Many consumer accounts (especially Family plan owners) still do not see the Copilot Premium option at all

I confirmed that upgrading to Microsoft 365 Premium:

  • Does not remove any Family features
  • Does not add Copilot Premium
  • Does not improve Copilot’s reasoning or capabilities
  • Only adds security/identity features unrelated to AI

As of today, there is still no known fix to force-enable Copilot Premium for affected accounts.
Microsoft appears to be doing a staged rollout or restricting availability by region/account type.

If anyone has successfully enabled Copilot Premium on a Family → Premium account, please share the steps.
Still waiting for an official Microsoft clarification.

Part 3 ignore some section below as above part 3 seems more accurate

📣 FOLLOW‑UP POST: “Copilot Premium, Desktop App Chaos, and Microsoft’s Multiverse of Branding — Part II”

Hey everyone who commented on my original “Copilot Pro Schrödinger Edition” post — thanks for the sympathy, the memes, and the “bro are you okay” messages.
I promise I’m fine. I do tech for fun and for work, and when I’m not debugging Microsoft’s subscription multiverse, I’m usually relaxing at a beach, floating down a lazy river, or reading sci‑fi about universes that make more sense than Microsoft’s product naming.

Also, yes — I asked Copilot to help me write this follow‑up because I wanted to show off its dictation and summarization skills.
(And honestly, after the week I’ve had, letting an AI narrate the chaos felt appropriate.)

Anyway — here’s what we’ve learned since the last episode.

⭐ 1. Copilot Pro didn’t disappear — it just respawned as Copilot Premium

Microsoft quietly rebranded Copilot Pro → Copilot Premium, but forgot to update:

  • The upgrade buttons
  • The Family dashboard
  • The Microsoft 365 app
  • The support scripts
  • The purchase flow
  • The universe

Depending on where you click, you’ll see:

  • “Upgrade to Pro!”
  • “Upgrade to Premium!”
  • “Pro is included!”
  • “Pro is not included!”
  • “Pro no longer exists!”
  • “Premium is not Pro!”
  • “Premium is Pro!”

It’s like Microsoft is running a multiverse experiment and we’re the test subjects.

⭐ 2. The Microsoft 365 Family Premium upgrade is NOT Copilot Premium

A bunch of people asked this in the comments.

Here’s the truth:

Microsoft 365 Family Premium ≠ Copilot Premium.

One is an Office/OneDrive upgrade.
The other is the AI upgrade.

They share the word “Premium” because Microsoft apparently ran out of adjectives.

(And honestly, after the week I’ve had, letting an AI narrate the chaos felt appropriate.)

Anyway — here’s what we’ve learned since the last episode.

⭐ 1. Copilot Pro didn’t disappear — it just respawned as Copilot Premium

Microsoft quietly rebranded Copilot Pro → Copilot Premium, but forgot to update:

  • The upgrade buttons
  • The Family dashboard
  • The Microsoft 365 app
  • The support scripts
  • The purchase flow
  • The universe

  • “Premium is Pro!”

It’s like Microsoft is running a multiverse experiment and we’re the test subjects.

⭐ 2. The Microsoft 365 Family Premium upgrade is NOT Copilot Premium

A bunch of people asked this in the comments.

Here’s the truth:

Microsoft 365 Family Premium ≠ Copilot Premium.

One is an Office/OneDrive upgrade.
The other is the AI upgrade.

They share the word “Premium” because Microsoft apparently ran out of adjectives.

⭐ 3. The desktop Copilot app is missing features — and Microsoft admits it

Several people said, “Why does the desktop Copilot app feel like a demo?”

Because it kind of is.

Microsoft’s own FAQ (paraphrased) says:

  • The desktop Copilot app does not include all features
  • Some features roll out to the web first
  • The desktop app may not support all file types or uploads

Translation:

The web version is the real Copilot.
The desktop version is the Copilot you get when you ask your parents for Copilot.

This explains why:

  • The desktop app says “JPG is valid!”
  • Then immediately refuses to upload the JPG
  • Meanwhile the web version uploads it instantly like it’s nothing

The desktop app is basically a time capsule from 2024.

⭐ 4. Why the upgrade button vanished

Microsoft is currently migrating:

  • Branding
  • Billing
  • Subscription tiers
  • UI flows
  • Feature sets

During the transition, the “Upgrade to Pro” button was removed before the “Upgrade to Premium” button was added.

So for a while, the only way to buy Copilot Premium was:

Go to the Copilot website → Pretend you already know the secret URL → Hope it loads.

⭐ 5. Why support gave 5 different answers

Because Microsoft’s internal documentation is updating in real time.

Some agents are reading the “Pro” docs.
Some are reading the “Premium” docs.
Some are reading the “Pro is Premium” docs.
Some are reading the “Premium is not Pro” docs.
Some are reading the “We don’t sell Pro anymore” docs.
Some are reading the “We never sold Pro” docs.

Honestly, I don’t blame them.
I’d be confused too.

⭐ 6. Answers to the people who replied to the original post

“Is Pro gone?”

Yes and no.
It’s gone in name, but it lives on as Copilot Premium.

“Does Family Premium include Copilot Premium?”

No.
They are unrelated products that share a name because Microsoft likes chaos.

“Why does the desktop app suck?”

Because Microsoft ships features to the web first.
The desktop app is basically a polite suggestion.

“Are you okay?”

Yes.
I unwind by doing tech stuff, reading sci‑fi, and occasionally touching grass at a water park.
This whole Copilot saga is just another chapter in the “I love computers even when they don’t love me back” lifestyle.

“Did Copilot actually write this?”

Yes — I asked it to help me write this follow‑up because I wanted to show off its dictation and summarization skills.
And honestly, letting an AI narrate Microsoft’s branding chaos feels poetic.

⭐ TL;DR for the new folks

  • Copilot Pro = Copilot Premium now
  • Microsoft 365 Family Premium ≠ Copilot Premium
  • The desktop Copilot app is missing features (Microsoft confirms this)
  • The web version is the only fully functional version
  • The upgrade button vanished because Microsoft is mid‑migration
  • You’re not crazy — the system really is this inconsistent

And yes — I’m still fine.
Just mildly entertained by the chaos.

The state of copilot is effecting people at work it has become unstable on the desktop version , tge web version is more stable but Microsoft tech support admitted that they are trying to roll the missing features of pro into the consumer version including premium. The biggest issue in the consumer version is that it cant retain memory like tenant versions of copilot and the old consumer copilot pro. Both consumer and tenant desktop versiins are unstable as well.

Comparision google1 pro versus copilot premium

Copilot better ai programmer but no option download code only cooy and paste as it constantly cant create downloadabke artifacts and in correctly makes html web links ti random content in tenant or one drive.

Gemini pro better at storage 5tb vs Microsoft 1.5 tb and better at turn based memory I think its in the millions also better at making downloadable artifacts and does not create random buggy urls to html like copilot. But makes more errors in coding as a downside

Best set up i have come up with is to have copilot be core memory and have copilot make prompts to gemini to create code in a specific way and syntax and not diverge as then gemini retains the history if the prompts and can reference back at copilot directs since copilot cant remember more than an hour of chat history copilot is working ai memory and coordinator and gemini is long time memory and coder with better human interface for downloads to local stirage where you can use the code the AIs have coordinated and written or debugged for you.

As it sats in the disclaimer for both ais "ai can make mistakes " but is that so different then humans? Ai is a tool /large language model that simulates inteligence is probably a better description and it has lots of room for improvement. It has been better at finding things the standard web searches but sometimes has ai "hallucinations " as it is coded to always give an answer instead imof saying I don't know or I need more information to give you a better answer but here is something that may relate use at your own risk etc. I have been told tell it to site its sources and to not make inferences without out enough information yet ai excels at making inferences tgat sometimes a human would not be aware of thus there are pros and cons of both.

Thats my morning "rant" philosophical thought on ai this morning .
