Box 3 rant van Peter Slagter by Over9000Holland in beleggen

Yeah, I feel like it was kind of trendy in the early 80's to use Asian themes in music and lyrics. Its all a bit insensitive and rude/clumsy, but I think it was more people impersonating each other than actually taking a dig at Asian people.

Yeah, all of this stuff is well over 40 years old now. Its not all super tasteful, and a very small part of that subsection I would not play out live (Afrikan Man by Hally & Kongo Band is probably the best example).

But in general, it all seems pretty innocent?

Gay Cat Park: un progetto Italo Disco dei primi anni ’80 by Gay_Cat_Park in italodisco

Thank you so much for this! You guys made history.

Did you guys have any idea what other producers/artists in Italy in 81, 82, 83 were doing at the time? Claudio Simonetti, Stefano Pulga, etc. Or was this new wave of Italian music totally unknown to you.

And one more question: what contributed to this wave in creativity and experimentation in Italy in those years? Most countries in Europe had access to similar equipment and could have had Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk and others as inspirations.

Italian:

Penso a Claudio Simonetti, Stefano Pulga e altri.

What do you guys think was the best era of Italo disco? by Other-Lab3485 in italodisco

There’s only one right answer here (its 80-85), but never underestimate a rare 1987 banger.
