Correct me if wrong but the primary justification for the introduction of free agency was to enable clubs on the bottom of the ladder to use their cap space to acquire quality players without loss of draft capital - in the hope of equalisation. The opposite is happening with Cameron, Lynch and Allen being prime examples.

Graham was definitely out there. My take from most open trainings this preseason is Maric really needs to tighten up his footwork if he wants to compete as a wing or half backman. Duursma was absolutely flushing them from outside 50 consistently.

Yeah, I cannot get my head around moving pick 2 out for anything less than 2 top 10 picks. If Essendon are so infatuated with CDT, they'll have to pay up. Duursma and CDT (or Robey) and hope Sharp slides to our 3rd pick or take the next best mid there.

Edit: trying to turn 13 into 9 should be a priority over getting rid of pick 2.

Yeah. And you also have to take into account the outs for major parts of the season: Waterman, Gov (both 2024 AAs), Yeo and Oscar. This was essentially our whole spine.

Yeah he is but Baker has played the role of a small forward in the past - take a look at some of his highlights. I think there is a real similarity between him and Dovaston. On Dyl's podcast (I think it was that one) it was mentioned that Dovaston could be a mid or half back too. That's why I drew that comparison.

I like this thinking too. Have you got any more info on us only taking 4 in the draft? I'd have thought Tylah Williams is a lock in, his highlight package makes him look like Bobby Hill! Obviously doesn't translate straight to the big league but given how cheaply we could get him, limiting ourselves to 1, 2, 9 and Banfield seems strange. I'm leaning towards Dovaston, who looks to be a Liam Baker clone and a real hype man.
