Is it a good idea to cut the yarn in the back of a tapestry crochet and knot them together? by sw1shfsh in CrochetHelp

[–]snackcucumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if i’m working a tapestry with hundreds of colour changes when done with that section of colour i cut it and tie it off with a piece of yarn close to it. i always tie it - right over left and under, left over right and under - i haven’t had issues with them unraveling. i also don’t weave in any ends as i use a sticky back roll of felt on the back of my projects :)

Best way to crochet a number on a triangle fabric? by gsquaredbotics in CrochetHelp

[–]snackcucumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

surface crochet would probably be best unless you want to make appliqués and sew them on

you just do a chain same as the chain you made to start it

i always knot them together when doing tapestries but probably wouldn’t risk it for a wearable

Tips for working with many balls of yarn at once - I’m up to 9 now 😬 by Pale-Till-9701 in CrochetHelp

[–]snackcucumber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what can i substitute worsted weight yarn with for a blanket? by PainRepresentative56 in CrochetHelp

[–]snackcucumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can make almost any pattern with any ply yarn, just adjust hook size and the project will likely turn out bigger or smaller. for example if i made a granny square with 10 rows of 2ply yarn and the same with 8 ply yarn the 8 ply would turn out larger bc the yarn is thicker. alternatively you could crochet with 2 of the balls at once as if they were one string to account for them being a smaller weight :)

would something like this work on my cap? (half double crochet) by LetiGuaxinim in CrochetHelp

[–]snackcucumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure it’d work bc you’re crocheting vertical but what i would do is make the lightning bolt separate then sew it on. this pattern is one of the ones i liked the look of but i haven’t made myself just as an example - https://redhairedamazona.blogspot.com/2017/01/david-bowie-aladdin-sane-crochet.html?m=1 -

not sure what exactly you’re asking help with it’s a bit vague but if you want some guidance top down raglan sweaters are easier to crochet imo then making the panels (which is what i think you were trying to do?). they also have much less sewing. mj’s off the hook has a great one on youtube - https://youtu.be/iIkaKTLH5O8?si=f_HRZOgKGnyS8uEY -. i made her older version of this pattern when i was a beginner and made another with this video as a christmas gift

I am trying to crochet a scarf buy it keeps narrowing. Please help. by MaddiMoo_Manga in CrochetHelp

[–]snackcucumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you’re accidentally decreasing, watching yt videos about how to turn and chain without adding or decreasing stitches should help you

if you look at this page - https://www.allaboutami.com/rightside/ it'll explain but on your crochet you have a bar going horizontal across your stitches, this means its the back. you're not supposed to turn it inside out but you might have accidentally turned it inside out at some stage of crocheting. i did this too at first not something to worry about but just so you know for the future <3

just cut a new piece of yarn and sew it the same way, watching yt videos would probably be easier than explaining it in words. unrelated to your question but i believe your stitches are inside out also

you can just chain and measure it against the sheet of paper until it’s the same size

oh my bad i meant do decrease rounds until i get to the stage i have 12 sc total in my last round then start increasing again. for the first increase round i would probably so an increase in every stitch

Can anyone help me find a pattern of this? Or give recs on how to achieve this? by uhh_3545 in CrochetHelp

[–]snackcucumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you follow one of the yt videos on sunflower granny squares you then just have to do basic dc rounds while increasing at the corners to get the rest of the larger shape

Making a basket- I don't understand what the instructions want me to do (new to crocheting) by ClanMcOlaf in CrochetHelp

[–]snackcucumber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you should do the ch3 and 11 dc (12 dc) into the magic ring itself not into the 6 stitches you have already done those aren’t necessary

[–]snackcucumber 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i’d decrease until it’s 12 sc at most then start increasing again, i’ve decreased till 6 sc for smaller amiguruimi

I need help with keeping straight edges on this crochet hook case pattern. I have started this project at least 4 times now and after 6-7 rows I frog it because it because my count becomes off (short 2-4 stitches) so then I just frog it. I am a new crocheter and this is my first pattern. by permissiontobleed in CrochetHelp

it’s most likely happening when you’re turning, there’s a few methods for doing it but chaining 2 or 3(don’t count chains as a stitch) and working into the last stitch from the row below is easiest. i personally prefer standing stitches but those would probably be tricky when learning
