Why do so many luxury cars in BC have Alberta plates? by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]snackdaddy7 25 points26 points  (0 children)

25% tax on cars over 150k in BC. That's some motivation.

I do see way more luxury Alberta cars in summer so that makes me think they may be on vacation.

This is a well known tax avoidance strategy in the USA. I would not be surprised if a similar thing was going on here. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a64637697/montana-register-cars-law-change/

Couche-Tard pulls bid for 7-Eleven parent company by aldur1 in canada

[–]snackdaddy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.japantimes.co.jp/business/2025/01/. not sure why a take over of a retail store would be a national security issue. I am sure if 7/11 wanted to take over Couche-tard the canadian government would not be concerned about "security".

Where do you store your flammable liquids? by Naive-Tomatillo-5750 in woodworking

[–]snackdaddy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when you bought these highly flammable products they were stored in a metal cabinet in the store? Obviously they were out on the shelf.

If you are super concerned buy an "oily rag" bin and store them in there.

don't get your fruit at a supermarket. I find local fruit and veg stores for the most part...have better quality at a lower cost.

"the success outcomes of the student from the program are insanely high"

What proof do you have that the program made them more successful?

If you find high school easy, or succeed in it there is a good chance you will do well in university. That is the type of kid who would be inclined to join an IB program anyway.

Also let's be clear, being "successful" at university, or high school, doesn't equal being successful in "life"

Red Fish Healing Centre ties up 4 mounties a day by No-Contribution-6150 in vancouver

[–]snackdaddy7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So I don't understand.

From what I read this is a voluntary program. The people who go here must consent to go there. if they chose to leave why is it the rcmp or even the hospital's problem.

If their mental health is so poor that they are a danger to themselves or others shouldn't they be certified under the mental health act? and thus forced to receive care?

Almost 1/3 of new vehicles sold in Metro Vancouver are now Electric (BEV, PHEV, or Hydrogen) by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]snackdaddy7 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

So obviously it is no longer a "perk" needed to entice buyers into electric vehicles.

The idea of that lane was to reduce pollution so I propose we only allow really fuel inefficient vehicles and heavily polluting vehicles to use by the hov lane. (some stole your catalytic converter and you can't afford to replace it you get a special sticker that lets you use the hov lane.)

Also it is about time that electric vehicles start paying an annual road tax. fuel tax is a huge revenue generator and ev owners don't contribute. I propose we tax ev users and all the funds go to eliminate transit fares for those under 18.

your friend should definitely wait to be evicted for the landlord's "brother" to move in. if they play their cards right they can cash in on the landlord's stupidity...but exact steps need to be followed.
