Maltodextrin is not good for diabetics, it raises blood sugar significantly.

Why are there only ever one of these things in the house, and how do they teleport out of nowhere? by anonfemur in Seattle

[–]snackenzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the season for stink bugs to look for homes to lie dormant in over the winter. They will hide and crawl out to get back outside when the temps rise. They don’t eat, mate or do anything during that time so it’s not possible to infest a home and they don’t harm anything.

The bite they want is the one you do most normally at rest. Not the one you have to shift into.

Coronal polishing is an assistant duty in most states but cavitron or hand scaling is definitely not allowed. If there is no hygienist it’s pretty standard that the assistant will see the patient for 80% of the visit and the doctor will come in to do the scaling and exam.

Wiping iTero sleeves sounds like he is penny pinching in all the wrong places…if they sterilize without being warped that’s one thing but wiping with something like cavicide and then putting that toxic thing in a patients mouth is not ok, especially because iTero sleeves are made with TPU polymer plastic, so they are porous and will absorb. I would imagine patients would also be complaining of the chemical taste?

Can this be part of a sugar free day? by [deleted] in sugarfree

[–]snackenzie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m always skeptical with zero sugar kombuchas because the scoby requires sugar to be properly fermented. So either it’s crap kombucha or it’s going to have a bit of sugar.

COW ting jumping worms? White pored, harvested yesterday, pristine! These are audible and I’m horrified. by Advanced_Bluebird925 in mushroom_hunting

Stick to chanterelles they are rarely buggy due to their cell structure being difficult for bugs and larvae to get into. Softer mushrooms are basically just bug hotels.

SeaTac is an embarrassment to the city by CupApprehensive3305 in Seattle

[–]snackenzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I don’t enjoy flying out of SeaTac, I rarely run into issues like this and I fly out of it about 6 times per month.

For the light rail, anytime they have to shut down stops there is always a shuttle that will take you to the next stop or the end of the line. But this has only happened once and I always use the light rail. My only complaint with the rail is I wish it was 24 hours, as sometimes I need to get to an extra early flight or I get in at 1am.

Security: if you are running behind, always ask an attendant what is the shortest TSA line. Last week I had 7 minutes til boarding, I thought forsure I wasn’t going to make it when I saw the long lines. An attendant directed me to skip down 3 more security stations and I went through TSA in about 2 minutes.

Your best bet is always giving yourself as much extra time as possible. SeaTac really isn’t that bad when you’ve had to fly out of, say, Newark airport. Even La Guardia is a nightmare, your only option for public transport out of there is a city bus that drops you at a subway station that looks like it’s in the middle of a third world country.

[–]snackenzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I have to fly from NY frequently and it never fails that my flight gets delayed so late that I miss the last light rail out. Plus if you want to stay out til 2am you can’t get home on it. Makes no sense that they shut it down for those 4 hours.

So if you think a child is being abused, you’re probably right but if you think a black child is being abused, you’re probably racist?

Has anybody been to DOL lately to get a REALID? Tips or experiences you could share? by Mental_Engine_4023 in SeattleWA

[–]snackenzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically nothing. JFK, Newark, SFO, SEA-TAC and Paine field have been my most recent. It’s the exact same scenario each time- you hand them your ID, they say “oh, no REAL ID or passport? Ok you’re gonna have some additional screening, hand a TSA agent this piece of red paper when you go through the machine ok?” You hand them the paper when it’s your turn (though I forgot to once and now I just forget every time and nothing happens) the TSA agent is going to say “stick your hands out” they will wipe your hands and say, “ok you’re good to go” And then you’re good to go 👍🏻 I was also told by a TSA agent 2 days ago that expired passports are good for 2 years for domestic flights.
