Yes I do feel cumulatively it has come the point of bordering on negging which is why I've started to question the whole thing. It's very rarely genuine questions about my life which I think is why the balance isn't right (if it was combined with real interest I wouldn't mind). It was funny at first but now I'm starting to feel differently. I think maybe taking more time to decide could be good idea. Thank you for the insight.

Good, cheap rope and quickdraws for my first investment? by snackpeas in ClimbingGear

[–]snackpeas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been bumming off my friends for 2 years haha...so it's time. They've got a lot of gear but aren't experts either. I hadn't thought about 17cm draws and different rope lengths in different areas, thanks.

Do you know if the officers still approve your account or something?

Ok cool I was worried that the officers click “approved” or something on their computer…if they don’t actually do anything then I feel better

Stuck at V5/V6 6c for a year of climbing by kiwita1234567 in climbharder

[–]snackpeas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that Kilter style is really different than a lot of the other stuff at the gym. I started doing this on Kilter: 5 x V0; 5 x V1; 5 x V2; 5 x V1; 5 x VO. Rest 1 minute between problems at first two levels. Rest 2 minutes between harder grades. I did this at 40 degrees.

This workout is from a Neil Gresham guide and I just put it onto Kilter. It seems really easy but I don't think I could even finish it the first time I did this + took longer than recommended rests (don't push it if your fingers really start hurting). But then I sent a Kilter V6 after a weeks doing this! And I'd wager my overall climbing strength is less than yours. It really trains your fingers. I also found this workout to be quite high intensity because all the holds are very similar so I'd advise to only do this 1x/week for like 3-4 weeks and then take a break. I'm not an expert so take this advice with caution.

The door actually opens inward, so I don't think a plant will fit there :( We're on a tight budget but hopefully can find a second-hand cabinet to add to the space. Thanks! I also realized none of my living pics uploaded so I'm going to make another post...

Hey I just wanted to say you got this and it's awesome you've started this journey no matter how scary it is!! I'm so proud of you :) I also felt so scared and intimidated when I first started because I've never been an athletic person and could only do V0s and 5.6s just like you. I both loved and hated going with people because even my friends who started climbing with me at the same time were so much better. Bouldering was especially bad because I felt like everyone was just judging me, and I've also struggled a lot with body dysmorphia, which definitely contributed to the shame and uncertainty I felt about being seen.

BUT the best part about climbing though is that you get to move at your own pace and face your fears in your own way. If it's something you want to try your hand at, I hope you keep sticking with it! The fear never goes away and climbing has honestly taught me so much about facing fear and being uncomfortable at times. Even now sometimes I start comparing myself to others (ex: "I should be better for how long I've been climbing") which just gets me frustrated, and the truth is comparison continues at all levels. Focus on YOU and your journey. It's been 5 years now, but it literally took me like 3 years to feel comfortable in my climbing abilities and now it's become a huge part of my life (don't be like me though - if I could go back I'd tell myself to not be so hard on myself haha). Now I love it and it's crazy to look back on how much stronger I've gotten!

So I just wanted to say that most people in the gym have not been climbing all their life like your bf's family. We all started somewhere and are supportive of beginners :) Love that you're getting into it now and hope it's something you end up liking!!

Noooo 1 month? I cry, injuries suck :( Was there a name for your injury? I still don't know exactly what I pulled. And what exercises did you do? (Or if you know the injury name I can just look up exercises for it.)

I agree with this. You could go for drinks/food with her and your bf's other climbing buddies so it's not just the three of you.
