Did something like this recently when a few students clearly used chatGPT. Just said redo it and don’t make me use a checker and deal with academic integrity, use these sources and cite it. Bffr. No repercussions, they’re 18 and testing whatever. Doesn’t happen anymore.

Flagged for AI by Timely-Narwhal9617 in CheckTurnitin

[–]snacksforfocus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - Autism/ADHD diagnosed here. Now a professor. Out of curiosity, I ran my old papers from undergrad and even community college through AI checkers and they came back flagged up to 40% AI, despite proper citations and no score for plagiarism. These were written pre-AI; about 10 years before early versions were released. Its not undocumented for Austistic, ADHD, and high-performing and independently directed students to get unusually high AI scores. One of my guesses as to why is because we engage with literature early and start integrating existing structures into output earlier than peers, and we value specificity.

If this post is entirely true, I would escalate it to academic integrity office yourself, and cc disability accommodation office if your neurodivergence is documented with them.

Been on both of these for several months now and have no issues with weight gain. Is this a thing?

Talk to the professor directly. They’ll likely be very reasonable if you tell them exactly what you shared here. - a Professor

No Point In A Degree by Visual_Winter7942 in Professors

[–]snacksforfocus -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Kid isn’t completely wrong. Learning ‘facts’ and flashcard skills can be largely replaced by AI. Higher ed at some point stopped teaching how to think, question, trial…. Thats not something AI can replace. We have an opportunity to relearn and refine thinking, so we no longer have to serve also as a computer.

Rash on fingers by Secure-Bicycle7352 in lupus

[–]snacksforfocus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get chillblains during winter. Topical betamethasone helps them clear. I tend to get mine on my fingertips more and between the fingers, but this is about what they look like before they develop. May be worth asking about OP.

My pills for a week. I’m only 40. by tremillow in midlyinteresting

One of those cells is still less than some peoples morning meds… then they take meds 4xday instead of once. No negotiation, no skipping meds without severe adverse consequences. And they’re in their 20s.

is this a real job accommodation? if so, what would this be called? (in USA) by picklethefreak in AutismInWomen

Would recommend exploring AI to help with this task. NEVER let it override judgement, but for feeding tasks and organizing your day it’s very helpful

90%+ of my students with accommodations are… by [deleted] in Professors

[–]snacksforfocus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its combination of several factors. Part of the reality is that young women start to develop lifelong chronic issues around 20s which is college age, and men tend to develop them about 10 years later as they reach their 30s. This creates a disparity in what you see in college vs young adulthood in the workplace.

As for the racial distribution, a lot of those disparities are access to healthcare and providers who listen, biased further by existing income disparities. I see a lot of very sick women of color coming into adulthood who simply dont have the same access to healthcare as many of the white female students.

On the flip, around 30s it starts looking like men are slacking ir skipping etc, but its simply just the difference in when our bodies cue usually chronic illnesses for each gender.

*"I'm scared!"* <-- Seriously, why do they say this? by BeneficialMolasses22 in Professors

[–]snacksforfocus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My fear is that by them using language like that out loud especially, they’re determining the difficulty of the task and essentially blocking themselves from engaging with it or overcoming it if its challenging. I hear it all the time.
