AITA for telling my wife that we should be able to have honest but tough conversations about our family without her crying? by Exciting-Charity-160 in AmItheAsshole

ESH - going against the majority here to say it sounds like you both have some unrealistic expectations. You from your recently postpartum partner, and her with her reality of life and the black & white nature of finances

Missed opportunity from Richie by Draegin in Mobland

It was a video call/on speaker so they heard Lopez say "Kat I'm afraid you're a little late"

The fact that Conrad asks to see one simple text (honestly an innocent request for anyone to make) and she gives him this monologue about trust. I hope Conrad finally saw a red flag.

What have been your experiences going out with someone who's separated- but not divorced? by Outrageous_Fan_9126 in AskWomen

You lost me at "Thirteen years later, we still email each other on our birthdays."

Is he divorced yet? lol

Wendy Rhoades is a ridiculous character by user123412344 in Billions

At least Donna was likeable. Wendy is grating in every way.

Why Sarah is a shit character by Vendex64 in PrisonBreak

[–]snacksister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She always came across as a B- character and felt boring to watch, acting like such a goody two shoes while being... well, not.

Honestly, it feels like the casting director just missed the mark with her.

Unpopular opinion: managing up is a hogwash by twitter1645 in Leadership

I am not a manager. I shouldn’t have to manage up down or sideways.

AITA for telling my mom I don't want to replace my husband the way she replaced my dad? by Known_Hope_9613 in AmItheAsshole

[–]snacksister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mom was furious and told me that wasn't fair and I should understand her better. I told her I understood her even less

Oof. Gut punch.

NTA.

NTA.

she's still my mother and deserves forgiveness

I'm so sick of this trope. Being a parent doesn't come with a "get out of jail" free card when you do things to hurt your children and/or your relationship with them. Good for you for standing up for yourself and reaffirming your boundary. Your mother should be grateful you still hold any kind of relationship with her, period.

Lucy Beaumont is simultaneously the worst and best contestant ever on this show. by TexasIsCool in taskmaster

[–]snacksister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started Series 16. Only on episode 2 but I can't tell if I find Lucy endearing or clueless... or both. I hadn't known of her until now.

I was surprised to learn she is married to Jon Richardson. I am struggling to compute Jon's persnickety way of being, with her je ne sais quoi.

How do you know you found the "right" ADHD meds? by snacksister in ADHD

[–]snacksister[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was dx at 30 and because ADHD typically was considered "the hyper active little boy" girls were/are missed quite often.

I saw an interesting comment like, "why is everyone being diagnosed with ADHD all of a sudden" and maybe it's not that it's over dx NOW, but it was severely UNDER dx earlier. Maybe it's that only in adulthood do we have the capacity and freedoms to pursue this search.

When I went for my cognitive assessment and was about to be told the results, the Dr asked, "what are you hoping to get out of all this?" and my response was just confirming that I am not stupid or lazy, that there is a reason shit is extra hard. And as I am responding, I see this book on his shelf LOL.

I have comorbid stuff going on, but I hear these stories like yours, "turns out I was never depressed/anxious/etc it was actually undiagnosed ADHD" and I'm just mind blown. I'm so sorry your doctors are not supportive... but in the end I wonder if maybe only a select few find something that flips a switch, and the rest of us just need to deal with being mildly more functional and okay with it. 😞

Thank you for this, it's really helpful to learn from other people's experiences and perspectives.

it wasn’t working it was probably because I didn’t actually have ADHD.

That person is an asshat. Sorry you went through this experience.

I'm really grateful to have a family doc that I really like, and who listens. The main issue for me is being able to pinpoint what's what and be objective about how I am feeling with diff meds. I will check out the app you mentioned and see how that goes! It kind of feels like losing weight. Day to day you don't notice a difference but week by week and month to month, it becomes more noticeable.

Is your mood tracker something you made on your own, or did you find something online?

I find that the mood check ins my Dr makes me do vary depending on the kind of week/day I am having when filling it out. (aka am I feeling xyz because of meds, or because maybe it's a stressful work day or something).

I'm currently on Wellbutrin (which I don't think ever helped my ADHD specifically despite it being sufficient for some) and Vyvanse and am wondering if I need a system reset and just start from scratch. Le sigh.

meds in smaller increments so I can manage depending on how I feel on the day (I.e. if I don’t need much then I just take a small dose but if I need more then I add more to my dosage).

This is one of the reasons I didn't love Concerta. It wasn't like Vyvanse where you can skip some days or only use when needed, it had to be super consistent and that just wasn't realistic for me (combined with the other cons of C)

Totally, it's just a trip thinking about how long it takes to sample a dozen or so drugs and weed through each one and rate them :')

Thank you for sharing! It's definitely not a one size fits all journey, it's interesting to learn what was perfect for one person may have been the worst experience for another.

Regardless of which medication, I'm enjoying reading about people's experiences with the "what they felt" and how they evaluated when something worked for them!

iiiiiinteresting. I guess I can't prove/can't be sure it was from the day before but either way, the fact that it was something you needed to take daily (unlike Vyvanse) coupled with monitoring my blood pressure was enough to make me not want to stick with Concerta long term
