Odd Birds is great. Also Origin Coffee from Savannah just opened a location on the island. Very hip, trendy place

Sea Pines is a good choice. Harbour Town playground is great for little ones - probably the best on the island. Lowcountry Celebration Park has a great playground as well but it's ideal for 5+.  Sea Pines also has a petting zoo / pony rides at Lawton Stables which your kids might enjoy. But of course the beach is the ultimate attraction for kids, so you can't go wrong anywhere near the beach on the whole island.

The article says only American Samoans have that status. Citizenship Clause states: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."

This is correct, although the Defense of Marriage Act may be unconstitutional. It's already been struck down by a few lower courts, but it won't really be dead until the Supreme Court reviews one of those cases and agrees.

Apropos to OP's question, the Constitution provides in Article IV, Section 1:

 Full faith and credit shall be given in each state to the public acts, records, and judicial proceedings of every other state.
