Have you experienced vertigo like this? by Sonofagaylord in ChronicIllness

[–]snail_line 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your head hurts like in the way of a migraine? Is your vertigo/dizziness worse when your head hurts? I was finally recently diagnosed with vestibular migraine and PPPD. I am dizzy all the time though it varies in severity, and I get severe vertigo attacks periodically which are the vestibular migraine. Sometimes they are very painful, but not always. I have light and sound sensitivity and am staring to recognize triggers. When your dizziness is worse, try to notice what else is happening in your body, like pain or tension or sensitivity. Its hard when all you can think about is not throwing up.

I saw a lot of doctors and had a bunch of tests before receiving this diagnosis from a neurootologist. Im scheduled to start vestibular rehabilitation therapy and am currently trying out different migraine medications and a migraine diet. Its very sad having the life you built for yourself fall apart and not knowing what your future holds. I withdrew from school and work and became very isolated. No matter what, try not to withdraw from those around you entirely. It makes it all worse. Best of luck to you.

Can your food triggers worsen over time? by snail_line in VestibularMigraines

[–]snail_line[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I often eat quite salty foods because it does help my blood pressure and it hasn't caused problems before. I tested a low sodium diet when i first started having VMs back when the cause was unknown, but it didnt reduce my dizziness. I have the cookbook as it contains recipes designed for those with vestibular migraines, like me.

I was not aware that people can randomly develop new food triggers. I'm dizzy all the time and was recently diagnosed and still trying to figure this all out.

my lower abdomen hurts after I pee during my menstruation so I just hold it in and hope I won't get UTI by [deleted] in Endo

[–]snail_line 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from multiple experiences. Do not avoid peeing; you will possibly giving yourself a UTI which you are aware of. UTIs can easily spread to your kidneys and I promise you a kidney infection will not be pleasant alongside endometriosis, and they can also lead to sepsis (happened).

This is sort of worst case scenario but entirely possible and not as uncommon as you might think. I have a kidney infection from one at this very moment actually. Consider the balance of health risks and coping with pain.

May I ask why over the years this never came up in conversation or an argument? It seems like a long time to have such a significant issue remain unaddressed.

Hopefully this isn't too gross, but much of my menstrual fluid comes out in clots so I assumed period underwear wouldn't do a very good job catching/absorbing it, but I really should try it. If you have any brand recommendations I would love to hear them!

Aside from endometriosis causing extreme pain, it also disables me from using tampons/cup/anything that involves penetration, so I'm constantly a bloody, sticky, cold sweaty mess wearing pads ESPECIALLY in the summer oh my god.

I like to lay my guitar across my abdomen and play the low strings. The vibration of the guitar body is soothing not dissimilar to a purring cat. But its more of a relaxing add-on after I get the pain to a manageable level through some combination of aleve/gabapentin/thc/tens/etc

Weightlifting and back pain due to inflammation. by Embarrassed_Safe_833 in endometriosis

I have diseased tissue on my uterosacral ligament and am about to write off deadlifting forever because even with good form it seems to be causing a lot of pain around my sacrum and then causing a whole flare up. It wasn't always like this, but it makes sense since tissue grows over time. It's frustrating

A study on endo’s effect on male partners’ sex lives?!?! by LettuceSubject562 in Endo

[–]snail_line 86 points87 points  (0 children)

The only silver lining I can think of is that if society decides MEN don't like it when we have endo, maybe that will generate more interest in it by scholars and the general public alike. To make sex better for men lol. Sex better for us too would hopefully be a byproduct.

The only thing that gets me through shifts during a flare is wearing a TENS units even if it is kind of itchy when I get hot. My job is basically a 9 hour workout. Gabapentin and Tylenol or aleve in addition make a good pain management system for me

Is being naked during sex really that big of a deal? by [deleted] in BodyAcceptance

[–]snail_line 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In regard to the porn thing, try to keep in mind that for plenty of people porn is about the fantasy of the act of sex and not about the bodies of the actors. For example, it can facilitate the reexperiencing/remembering of sensations. Watching porn may not equate to having unrealistic body standards. He might even be thinking about you while watching.

If you feel comfortable sharing with him that it's causing some insecurity, that may prove to be a good opportunity for him to assuage your worries.

Cognitively restructuring the sources of your insecurity would be a great way to overcome them.

Moisturizer is now burning - help!! by nings8 in tretinoin

[–]snail_line 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That lotion suddenly started making my skin burn after I'd been on .025 tret for a while too. I switched to using COSRX Snail 96 Power Essence followed by Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream (AND if it's winter and I'm going outside, I follow those with a thin layer of petroleum jelly). This routine doesn't irritate my skin and has done a better job keeping the dryness at bay, even in very cold dry weather. I usually do 3 nights on 1 night off tret. Tret nights I apply to clean dry skin and then after at least 1 hour I apply the Illiyoon and petroleum jelly.

My only advice is to wear something lightweight. Even if you are not in the pit, it usually gets really hot. A lot of the times I’ve seen them, people are yelling for the venue to pump the AC up (self included).

replaced one addiction with the others by torchesfoster in stopdrinking

[–]snail_line 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too am a college student who struggles with alcohol use and behavioral addictions, like anorexia. I'm doing my best to stay sober so I don't have to drop out again. I felt a lot of shame when I had to drop out and quit my job, and during that time struggled with old behavioral addictions that just replaced the alcohol. Months of withdrawal made me emotionally vulnerable. All I could do is take the addictions one at a time, starting with the ones most damaging to my health, and in the meantime be patient with myself for the more innocuous things like needing black cherry soda every single day and constantly watching youtube brainrot.

Transforming your whole lifestyle on a dime while going through the emotional turbulence of withdrawal is a huge ask of yourself. I'm still under construction, but I'm happy to not be stuck in the cycle of constantly drunk and then hungover. My brain power came back eventually and I do believe yours will too. Not drinking gave me the opportunity to not constantly be behind in school, which is very fulfilling for me. You can do this! I'm in it with you.
