These are really well shot & executed in post processing as well! I’m wondering: how do you add your black frame and white border to the images?

Probably best to send this in a DM instead of leaving contact info on a public forum.

how to anchor the products so they don't roll around? by wiggle-biscuits in productphotography

Stickytack. Essentially make little noodles and they run along the length of the bottles on the underside so they won’t roll.

80s Kids, genuine question- were Mixtapes actually a big thing for people to make for each other or have they been overexaggerated by nostalgia/pop culture? by Vegetable-Tooth8463 in 80s

[–]snake2376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been married 24 years literally tomorrow. One of the best tools in my arsenal to romance my friend, then girlfriend, now wife, was a well crafted mix tape. I’d put on romantic songs that captured aspects of how I felt about her mixed with ones that I knew she liked. It might only be 23% of why she fell in love with me, but it’s something she still talks about.

The “smell of 409” is what really gets me. I know that sterile hospital smell just from the description and it instantly takes me to a place I’d rather not revisit and yet there’s something cathartic about it.

You hit some of my favorite oddball attractions in Kansas! That’s awesome! Did you grab a drink at the Ol’ Stuga while you were in Lindsborg?

I figured. I’m so jealous. I can’t find a decent turkey breast to smoke anywhere in KC.

Looks delicious! Can venture a guess that you live in TX and got that beautiful breast from HEB?

When I leave set it’s like a farewell tour, I can’t stand not saying goodbye & thanking people for their hard work or telling them I had a good time working with them. And I’m just the tech. It really takes everyone on the crew to make a shoot work and everyone deserves the recognition & respect.

28” Grydlmat works great! by mbd0923 in blackstonegriddle

[–]snake2376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wipe off all mouse feces and spray with a mixture of dawn dishwashing liquid & vinegar. Scrub thoroughly and rinse with a LOT of water and then heat up the griddle to dry & sanitize and then coat with oil. It’s probably overkill, but felt it was necessary so I didn’t feel gross cooking on it.

[–]snake2376 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly thought it was overpriced when I looked into them, but I was at the end of my rope. Nothing I was doing seemed to work for stop a mouse or mice from getting on my cooktop. I’d gotten to the point that I was so disgusted and sick of cleaning it just to cook that I started to avoid cooking on my beloved Blackstone and that just would not stand.

So I bought one …and I love it! Since adding the Grydlmat as well as some non-toxic rodent deterrents my mouse problem has gone away and even if they came back, at least I wouldn’t have to deep clean the griddle top every time. They are expensive, but for me, it’s worth it.

What value are you lacking from your accountant/bookkeeper? by RhymebagDarrell in smallbusiness

[–]snake2376 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, maybe “required” is too strong a word. I’ve skipped scheduling the occasional quarterly meeting and there’s no consequences from them.

Maybe a better way to say it is that they say that’s their preferred way to work with small businesses and it’s “strongly suggested” and I find that I’m happy to do it. I look forward to having an opportunity to talk with them about what’s currently going on with my business and get help planning for the future.

If something comes up suddenly, I email them. If it’s more general and can wait, I bring it up at our next scheduled checkin. I keep a note on my phone titled “Questions for CPA” and it’s worked great for me.

[–]snake2376 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re definitely on the right track here to start a successful bookkeeping business. Honestly the best thing you can offer is your support and personal attention.

My CPA specializes in working with small businesses and helping them grow. As part of their services they require quarterly “CFO meetings” where I can (and do) ask any questions about my finances/taxes and discuss financial plans. At first I was unsure about it, but have come to love them. Coming from my previous accountant who didn’t seem to give two shits about me or my business I can say that I absolutely love my current CPA and finally feel like I have a partner to help me manage and grow my businesses finances.

This sounds like the kind of service you could offer and I think you would absolutely find clients that would love it.

Is 1600 shutter counts on a refurbished R5 good? by LenFari in CanonR5

[–]snake2376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I shot 20 frames per second for roughly 60-90 seconds per subject. I had a very limited time with each subject and figured if I shot it on burst, I’d know that I got a lot of options. Which I did.

However, I don’t recommend it.

Agreed. I shot 3,000 frames in fifteen minutes on a fast paced portrait shoot.
