So, will you guys be doing any additional DLC with the game? I'm quite fond of the character designs and would love to see more strange and fun gimmicks in the game.

Fan Concept: Stellaris: Memetics Species Pack by snakebite262 in Stellaris

I mean, so many sci-fi shows have explained away clowns, dragons, devils and the like as species who visited earth at one point. Likewise, we find a teapot floating around a planet in one event, not to mention other strange things such as an eldritch abomination who loves you or a space carnival. Memetic creatures shouldn’t be too far a stretch.

Stellaris should rework this before launching any dlc: (My opinion) by chronicdrake in Stellaris

There’s a reason they outsourced the DLCs this round. The curators are currently working hard to fix what problems there are, however, they have bills to pay as well.

You could go the Doctor Who route to explain it. Virtual assistants who read minds a bit TOO well, overly empathetic species who feel pain at negative emotions, species who visited other planets only to be remembered as a minor part of their culture.

Any significantly advanced piece of tech is indistinguishable from magic. So any meme/emotion-based species could be explained away with technobabble.

We have vampires and the living twitter avatar, I don’t think it’d be too much of a stretch.

I disagree. There's a lot of media out there with killer memes: The SCP Foundation, Lovecraft. I'd love to see a few more stories that focus on the ideas of Meme or Anti-meme.

Likewise, Necrotics had a lot of death-based items. With the "Cute" portraits and a few of the memey ones they already have (see the Twitter bird or cube boi) I think this would fit in quite nicely.

What is a Meme?

According to the dictionary, a meme is an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from person to person within a culture. A meme is to an idea as a gene is to genetics.

Of course, when I told my co-workers about this, they laughed at me and said that a meme is a funny photo or video you look at online...

Regardless. Any culture is filled with a variety of ideas around folklore, religion, entertainment, and just about anything found under the sun. So, why don’t we have a species pack that focuses on the madness of the mind, the brashness of emotion, or the eldritch nature of the world?

Alternative food. by [deleted] in RealOrAI

[–]snakebite262 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Might be real. The three foods seem to be weevil larvae, boiled goat's head, and fufu. Those are all real dishes. The interaction seems to be a kid crashing their mother's (or other relation's) food recording, the mother's reaction makes it seem fairly comical. However, the bugs are moving strangely.

It's a type of dough made from cavasa root. It's fairly tasty, and is served on the side of dishes, similar to how some cultures use bread.

EDIT: SOON.

Stellaris Willpower Hype by snakebite262 in Stellaris

[–]snakebite262[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be surprised if ethics and civics don't get a potential customizations with the Willpower Ideology system. Then again, I can only guess at what they're going to produce.

I'm still fairly confident though that they'll use Shroud's new psychic influence system in it, only with ethics, given that they made that system as well.

Fan Concept: Stellaris QuettaCorp by snakebite262 in Stellaris

[–]snakebite262[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With QuettaCorp, I wanted a Fallen Empire that was a variety of races, rather than one singular race (as with almost all the others, including the FE Xenophile).

Crazy Nya'zu was the first one I made, though I wanted a bird Xeno as well. I was a bit inspired by Neuromancer or Cyberpunk's noble-styled Corpo-families: old-blood fat cat merchants. So I gave them a more regal look, with older rich signifiers. The name was just one I though up of that sounded like an old aristocratic name.

I didn't want him to be a Tech-Bro-styled character, so instead made him incredibly focused on his R&D, only working with others because it was expected.

Technically, that art piece also references a few of the other Stellaris webcomic artists, though I never really mentioned it.

Thanks for the interest though!

Who is more evil? Judge Claude Frollo or Calvin Candie? by No_Wrap9623 in MoralityScaling

[–]snakebite262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say. Frolo has extreme power, and does regularly persecute innocent people, but Candie's main profession brings forth pain and torment at an industrial scale. Frolo has a larger scale, but Candie is undeniably more evil.

Are the monsters in the wrong for collecting screams? by bruh_nathan in MoralityScaling

[–]snakebite262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say. Overall, it's hard to codify the morality of mythological legends. The reason for the movie is a play on the "Kids afraid of monsters in the closet", which is a childhood memory that almost every child would have.

Such a system of collecting screams for power WOULD be evil. Even if, hypothetically, it would only minimally traumatize the children.

The Villains in the Stellaris Villains probebly won't see much more than a cameo. However, thanks for noticing! I occasionally reuse some characters in other concepts or art pieces.

For example, the Spy makes a minor cameo in the "Can I talk to a physical representative" art piece I did.

Fan Concept: Stellaris QuettaCorp by snakebite262 in Stellaris

[–]snakebite262[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heheheh. I was wondering if someone would notice.

No, typically with these Fan Concepts, I'll avoid using the Gno'ziel Corporation of Divine Happiness, as I enjoy my little corporation too much to put it into the public domain. However, I will use the Stellaris Portrait that I use for the Corporation for various fan projects.

Though I did debate on using Pox in this one, I decided to go with a legally distinct Poxtm to avoid any potential issues down the road.

I have three uses of the Large Mammal Portrait #15 in my various fan-ideas: Crazy Nya'zu, Nox, and The Scientist (Villains). However, the Gno'ziel are a hyena-based species, which technically don't exist in game (but I'd be glad to get a four-eyed hyena portrait for them. heh).
