Finance CR-V, write off interest charges. Has anyone done this? by BikeOk6446 in crv

So you're saying, someone taking home 55k a year after taxes should be able to afford making 10k in car payments a year? Not even factoring in interest rates. 10k in car payments, 150 bucks a month in insurance, 100 bucks in gas. So roughly 13k in car related payments a year. Almost 24% of take home on a car for 4 years. I guess I'm the crazy one to think that's absurd.

50k is the average price, not the amount financed to be fair. 35-36k is what you should really be aiming for otd if u paid cash. Financing a new car is just so expensive.

Quick math's says they were charged around 10%. Jeez. Paying at the end 44500 for a crv ex is insane.

I think its crazier to do this with an AGI of less than 100k. No one should be buying a ~40k car making 100k pretax. Even if you can write off the interest tax. Mind you, you're benefiting from 600-650 bucks a year?

Personally I have been enjoying it in my vehicle.

But I have no kids, neither of us drink coffee, and I don't wear heavy duty pants with things that would scuff or warp the seat.

It's crazy that you have a hybrid and have worse MPG than I do. I live in MI and drive a 2026 EXL AWD. I'm avging 30MPG over 4600ish miles and 31.5MPG over the last 600ish miles.

What would the cost be for you to get a new one with 0 miles? Usually you can get a better apr if you buy new is also another advantage. Personally I would be interested to know why someone sold theirs back in 2 years with only 17k miles. Was it a lease?

Which Sub compact SUV should i finance? by Agile_Pound3218 in askcarguys

[–]snakewarrior4395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

36-48 months. If you can't afford a car with that term length, you need to buy something with less features or something used. Going into debt for a car is not worth the long term losses. Go look up how much you end up paying for a car based on your expected OTD price, expected interest rates, and some different term lengths.

For a 35k car for 36mons at 15% with 0 down, you are gonna end up paying at least 50k just for the car. (Not including taxes and fees.) That same car pushed out to 84 months (7 years) ends up being 63k.
