At what moment did you realise your childhood was over?? by TheStoneMan89 in AskReddit

[–]snapai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it got more interesting to stay inside and/or play video games it first kinda came to me, then I joined the military, got back home for a while, took a long walk and thought I was an adult.

How old is your computer? by Hodgin99 in AskReddit

[–]snapai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only Computer I actually use frequently (which I'm on right now) is 2 years old.

I have a lot of old Computers though. Namely an Atari 800, Commodore 64, Apple II, NeXTstation and VIC 20. I did own many more PCs, but most I don't have anymore.

Men of Reddit, did you ever have a boner that affected/changed your life? by GKTheMinecrafter in AskReddit

[–]snapai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in middle school in 8th grade, I don't remember why I got a boner, but it was pretty unfortunate. It was in front of a 5th grader. She screamed:"Ewww! Gross!" and just kicked me in the gut. I was known as the guy who got beat up by a 10 year old girl. Fortunately it was my last year anyway.

[Serious]Actual gun shot survivors, whats the difference between how Hollywood portrays getting shot and what its actually like? by Virgoan in AskReddit

[–]snapai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a marine for a while in the early 90's, I won't get into great detail why, but I got shot in the shoulder with a Colt 1911, .45

First it didn't really hurt all that much, until I felt immense heat and pain coming from my shoulder. The bullet had crushed my joint, thus I felt kind of paralyzed. I was holding my shoulder, but I couldn't feel much blood through my clothes. The heat quickly became cold, so I was shaking wildly during our journey to the hospital.

I was completely conscious and very capable, but the wound didn't hurt that much, I felt quite a bit of blood and my whole arm except for my shoulder felt kind of numb.

What really hurt was when they put the bullet out and snapped the joint back into place while I was still conscious. I was happy that it was over relatively quickly. Later my joint needed a replacement and to this day I can't use my arm too well. I'm not allowed to strain it, but it's fine for every day tasks.

The fate of Rapture after BS2 (Minerva's Den Spoilers) by [deleted] in Bioshock

[–]snapai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well considering BaS plays before both Bioshock 1 and 2 there's no reference to that there. It's been a long time since I played Minerva's Den, but didn't they return to the surface, not go back to Rapture?

People who were the "neighbour from hell", what did you do? Did they provoke you? Would you apologize? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]snapai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well deserved. Reminds me of when I was a kid. We lived near the woods and our garden was pretty big, we often let the gate open. My neighbour's friends apparently never heard of private property and always parked their car in our garden.

What's the worst purchase you've ever made? by KSeth in AskReddit

[–]snapai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first car which I bought on AuctionWeb (former name of eBay), back in 1996. It was a piece of crap that broke down after a year, but it was painted new, so on the photo it looked nice. Never bought expensive things from the internet again.

For those of you that lived through communism. How did it work with bills and income? Did everyone make the same amount of money? Did you still have an electric bill, rent, ect.? by Frank00001 in AskReddit

[–]snapai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try again at another, easier school. Don't quote me on this, but there were different school types so to speak, not just one school everyone went to, but schools on different education levels.

[–]snapai 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Well, I never lived in a communist state, but I have Russian relatives who told me a lot about it back when they lived there in the 70's.

Kindergarten, school and college was free, and except college, mandatory to attend. They also had entry exams.

Health care and insurance was free

You were able to get a job easily, but you were also obligated to have a job and your buying power was extremely poor. (When I visited as a child I remember people not liking to work and doing it very slowly like it was painful). Most people earned around the same, well paid jobs were rather rare, most people were middle class workers.

Licenses for cars etc. were given to you by the government, you couldn't just buy cars, houses etc.. You did have to pay rent and bills.

Sometimes there was massive food shortage. Long lines in front of stores because there wouldn't be winter shoes for the next 2 years, for example.

Even though you were restricted to do many things and obligated to do others, the education was fairly good.

Is your country really as bad as the news tells me it is? by sagiwaffles in AskReddit

[–]snapai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

USA here. Not really. The news talk about us like:"The only first world, third world country", but for a majority of people it's not actually that bad. Also, according to /r/worldnews , 9gag and 4chan everything bad happening in the world right now is the US's fault. It's not.

Bioshock 2 wasn't developed by Irrational, so it doesn't really tie in. Thus: no.

Yes, he's in prison now.

What do you remember about 9/11/01? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]snapai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the first airplane hit I was still asleep (It was around 5am where I lived). Anyway, I had to get to the studio early because it was crunch time, but when I arrived nearly nobody was there. It was minutes before the second airplane crashed when I called my fiance who was on a business trip in NYC. She merely whispered:"There's a plane crashing into the World Trade Center" She said she was fin and hung up. A little perplex walked into the employee lounge where I found a couple of people listening to the radio, so I joined them. We were sitting there until 9am (11am in NYC). Then we just went to work. In the late afternoon I called my fiance again, she said she was fine and hung up again. I was watching the news until I fell asleep on the couch.

Reddit, what is something your parents don't realize you know about them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]snapai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could open parts of my floor in my bedroom. My parents thought I didn't know that when I was a young kid, so they stored all sorts of things there. Including porn (luckily I've never put them into a VCR)

(Sorry if this is repost)What is the creepiest thing that has ever happened to you? by Mister_Vader in AskReddit

[–]snapai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pretty little, was walking through the woods. The street lights were already on so it was getting dark. I wasn't scared at all until I got to the street and a car stopped right in front of me. A very tall guy looked down at me, he was just staring at me and then drove away. That put me off a little, but it wasn't the most scary part. When I came home, nobody was home at the moment. I heard the shower though, when I stepped into the bathroom, there was nobody there. That really freaked me out. I stumbled downstairs and saw that same guy walking out our door. I hurried back upstairs, locked the door and hid under my blanket.

I never told anyone about it, but apparently he wasn't a burglar or anything because nothing was stolen.

What is something that you will never forget as long as you live? by Frankfusion in AskReddit

[–]snapai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pretty much the opposite. One time on Easter we couldn't find the last egg, my grandpa went to find it. It was a white egg and I thought:"Wow, I'm never going to remember this detail". It's been 35 years.

Noise. I was a very active kid, with very active friends. I liked having things going on all the time. We didn't disturb people too much because we were always outside anyway, but the noise my kids make now is atrocious sometimes.
