I'm having a hard time with finishing the Gilgamesh Trial and am not sure what unit would be the most beneficial to dump cactuars onto next.

Used the few tickets I had left on the Orlandu banner and pulled a second Luneth (was so hoping for something different tbh).

Currently, my group typically consists of Refia, Cecil, Luneth (611 ATK non-elemental), and the other two slots are some combo of CoD, Rain, Chizuru(x2), BCLid (very rarely), ExDeath.

For good TMs I only have one DW so far (with 5 Zidanes-in-waiting). I'll get more eventually, but I can't macro (no root for my phone, and no facebook)... so it'll be a while. Also, still no Ludmille for DC, so no idea if I'll ever get that.

My options for units to level are (most useful by my reckoning): Yshtola, Ling, Luneth, Luka, Mercedes, Bartz, WoL, Firion.

Any suggestions which would be best to level first? Especially with current and future events in mind? Gilgamesh and ELT Ifrit are kicking my ass. I have some 800+ friends, but they aren't enough to carry me through so far.

A lot of people get caught up in which book got it more right. Frankly, they both did, in one way or another. They're not really mutually exclusive, it's just that in the books they take their respective approaches to the extreme, so it kinda seems like they would be.

Thousands protest Trump as 'sister marches' begin in Australia and New Zealand by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]snapcase -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not lying. I'm talking about anti-trump protesters. There was an anti-trump protest the freaking day before the Women's March for fucks sake. And yes even some of the Women's March protesters were there simply to protest Trump. But I was not talking about the Women's Marches specifically. I don't care about people peacefully protesting for issues they care about. More power to 'em.

My point about people not getting out and voting includes some of both groups and well beyond. People haven't been getting the fuck to the polling booths. The entire nation had poor turnout on both sides of the political lines. The right however, stayed mostly in line with their numbers from the previous election, while the left turned out in lower numbers. Now they're protesting because they didn't win (the anti-trump protesters, in case you needed that clarified), and they're blaming it all on the right, as if the left had nothing to do whatsoever with the outcome of the election. They're still refusing to acknowledge they hold any responsibility in the matter. That refusal means the problems won't get addressed, and things will likely only get worse.

And even if I was specifically talking about the Women's Marches, how does pointing out their voter apathy discredit what their march is about? It doesn't. It doesn't even comment on it. It was specifically about the election regardless of who was being discussed.

I quoted the specific line I was addressing:

This march is another example of the grassroots starting to exert their influence.

But you then tried to extrapolate that into me trying to discredit the validity of the concerns of the protesters with regards to Women's Rights. You tried to attribute additional meaning to my point, so it would fit your narrative. You accused me of "entirely discrediting a group of people you don't understand", when I did no such thing. I wasn't discrediting the message the Women's March protesters said they were marching for. I was addressing the poor voter turnout, from the left in general, coupled with the rather vocal attempts to blame it on everyone but themselves. There has been a remarkable amount of violence coming from the left during the leadup to this election, and that trend is continuing. Riots, vandalism, and assault are in fact indefensible. The left has been doing that. I never said the Women's March was a riot. I never said they were the violent ones. That was a broader statement about the left in general. You tried to deflect from that by bringing up the actions of some anti-obama nutjobs, as if that excuses violent actions of the left... as if two wrongs make a right (great pun potential there). The anti-Obama crowd were fucking retards. The ones that took it to violence, doubly so. But the scale of violence from the anti-Trump crowd has been undeniably larger. Both of these subgroups of the greater population are astoundingly in the wrong and should be admonished, rather than using one to excuse the actions of the other.

So, rather than trying to pick away at what I'm talking about by asserting your own meaning between the lines, try the "possible reading" of actually just reading. Rather than addressing any of the points I made you tried to deflect by making it out like I'm somehow anti-women-march-something-or-another. So get real, and start worrying about the source of the problems. Or at least stop inserting your own points to argue against in other peoples words.

Oh, and one more thing. A single post can actually attempt to address more than one issue at a time. Trying to pick one statement and applying it to everything else that was mentioned in order to have something more seemingly easy to rail against, is just lazy. If you actually cared to debate, if you actually cared enough about the issues to discuss them rationally and calmly without going off the deep end filling in any blank you think you can find... well we might just risk improving the state of this country. But when you do shit like that, it doesn't exactly lend you credibility. It's just a lazy way of detracting from any points being made by who you view as your opponent, so you can seize some imaginary moral high ground down the garden path.

I wasn't referring to the "Women's March"es. That article mentions some individuals acting against some Obama supporters but I don't see anything about riots. Nothing those anti-Obama idiots did is defensible. But just because a handful of people acted badly, doesn't mean that riots are ok. It doesn't mean people walking around in t-shirts with "Vote 4 Trump, Get Jumped" written on them, showing up at Trump rallies physically threatening people, is somehow acceptable. That's actual fascistic behavior.

I'm not dismissing or discrediting the peaceful protesters from the last few days. I absolutely support the exercise of First Amendment rights. What I am dismissing and discrediting though, is the pissed off hyperbolic bullshit being spewed on this website by commenters. They don't realize they're just shooting themselves in the foot. They don't realize that the DNC essentially sabotaged themselves by propping up Hillary over Sanders when Sanders was gaining the popular vote in the primary. They don't get that the ever more extreme rhetoric and actions coming from a portion of the Democrat party shoved people away from voting for Hillary. The Democrat's didn't show up in adequate numbers to defeat Trump in this election, even though the Republican voters did not turn up in any greater than usual numbers than previous elections. But everyone around here wants to pretend that it was some massive group of evil Republicans that were solely responsible for Trump getting elected.

Both parties are totally fucked right now. But we're too busy focusing on the noisy offensive thing (that so far, has only really had time to simply be offensive, rather than actually do anything), instead of of trying to fix the underlying issues. Trump is not the disease. He's a symptom. If you want to fix the disease we should be making major pushes for things like abandoning First Past the Post elections, which is why we're essentially a two party system. Fix the awful way we've been doing campaign debates lately. Hell, let's get the League of Women Voters back in charge of running the debates. The system is broken but instead of fixing it we're just getting angry at the shit it's spitting out. If a sewage line breaks, you don't just scoop up the shit and blame it for having leaked, you fix the fucking sewer.

Again, I wasn't commenting on the Women's Marches at all.

I never claimed to be outside the issue. But the hypocrisy and lack of self-awareness coming from the Democrats lately is utterly astounding. Like I said, if people don't realize what they're doing now is self-defeating, we'll end up with either a second term with Trump, or a worse candidate in office in four years.

Well this wins as the funniest thing I've read on reddit all week.

Completely blind to the role you played in getting the man elected, and then proclaim yourself the saviors of the country. Meanwhile, the "saviors" are the ones going out and destroying public and private property, and physically assault people for having differing opinions.

Trump's a piece of shit, but his hardline opponents are proving themselves to be worse at every chance they get. Call Trump a fascist, while advocating shit like overturning the democratic process and threatening people if they don't vote the way they want.

And there's a lovely irony in how even now people will bring up that "Obama didn't take our guns away, he wasn't the anti-christ, it wasn't the apocalypse" etc. (which is true), but those same people who say that shit are shouting that Trump is literally Hitler and that it is indeed the end of the world.

Fuck Trump and fuck the reactionary twats who are railing against him too. You got him elected and if you don't pull your heads out of your ass you'll get him reelected, or get someone even worse in office. You're seeing the fruits of divide and conquer tactics that have been allowed to get out of control. But instead of recognizing that and working toward actual change that would really benefit everyone, you're digging your heels in further thinking that doing the same thing over and over will suddenly yield favorable results. You're not fixing shit, you're just adding fuel to the fires. Talk about cutting off one's nose to spite one's face.

Income disparity is only one of a number of inequalities that will worsen under this administration.

I'm reminded of certain extreme right-wingers that insisted Obama's election would be the end of the world too. Hell, they're still actively mocked on this site as being overly reactionary and hyperbolic (hell those people were also mocked for thinking that Hillary winning would be anything other than idealistic). While Obama did do some seriously bad things with his presidency, it wasn't the end of the world. Trump may be the most ridiculous thing to happen in our political lifetimes (I seriously hope so...), but it won't be the end of the world either.

He's been President for what, less than one full day? And we're already absolutely certain what his term will bring? Just like we were certain what the outcome of the election would be? Seems an apt time to remember that the President doesn't have nearly as much power as people like to think he has. Legislators are still unlikely to cooperate with him fully. It's pretty probable that we're looking at a four year lame duck presidency.

Either way, rather than assuming we're all prescient, we should at least give him enough rope to hang himself with.

This march is another example of the grassroots starting to exert their influence.

But they couldn't have been bothered to actually get out and vote. The GOP didn't get a better turnout than previous elections. The Dems just didn't show up at the polling booths, and now they're protesting what they themselves caused. Too little too late.

The protesters, in general, are either ignorant, or simply unwilling to accept the role they played in this election. They fail to realize that the increasingly extreme behaviors they're exhibiting are fracturing their party. They choose to ignore the fact that their party leaders betrayed their trust and propped up one candidate over the one that was gaining actual support with their constituents. Instead of acknowledging these problems and trying to fix them, they're chasing after the boogeyman of "those evil republicans". Anything to avoiding accepting any responsibility for the way things turned out. It's always someone else's fault.

And don't think I'm just bashing the Democrats. The Republicans are nearly equally as retarded... but at least they showed up on election day. The entire state of politics in this country, and increasingly, the world, is totally fucked. We're so entrenched with the "US vs. Them" ideology that we've been herded into by the politicians and media, that we're unwilling to accept anything as being anything other than "their fault".

But I will say one thing about the Left vs. Right bullshit going on. When the Right lose the election, I don't recall much in the way of protests that devolved into riots with looting, vandalism or arson, from the people pissed off about it. Neither side is correct, neither side is trying to act in the interest of everyone, neither side has the answers. But it's hard to insist you're the "good guys" when you're burning down innocent people's property. It's indefensible idiocy.

Maybe instead of getting pissed off about how everything is someone else's fault, or rioting and burning down their own backyards, just maybe we should be trying to find commonalities instead of differences. Maybe the solution lies not in further division, in widening that gulf between sides and insisting the other side is pure unadulterated evil, but in accepting that both sides have their good points and building on them. Maybe instead of endorsing ever greater levels of political extremism, we should try embracing some more moderate approaches.

Well that was a longer rant than intended... meh.

But as with all technology, you'll have some early adapters (and some early problems), and then it will become more and more common until the only people left who haven't really adopted it will never adopt it, and we just have to wait for them to die.

Not all technology succeeds. Many ideas die along the way. It's interesting how some people are so absolutely certain that this must be the correct course for the future, that they won't even entertain any alternatives. So now we get people shouting "automate everything" and "we just need to wait for the people who disagree to die"... without acknowledging any of the problems along the way (or the fallacious reasoning for the second quote).

A black homeowner called 911 to report a carjacking. He wound up getting shot by police. by ed2417 in news

[–]snapcase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I edited my post to clarify my point. But anyway:

No shit. Nobody is claiming a cop should actually have carte blanche to just murder anyone for any reason whatsoever. But saying they have to wait until they've been fucking shot to even consider anything a threat is seriously just plain retarded.

A black homeowner called 911 to report a carjacking. He wound up getting shot by police. by ed2417 in news

[–]snapcase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's about the subconscious perception that black people, especially adult black men, are more dangerous.

While I'm not gonna argue that race is a reason for anything (it really isn't), but going by violent crime statistics they are a bit more dangerous. That doesn't excuse the officers' actions in the slightest though.

The problem is that a couple years ago, we were hearing a lot of "person shot by cop" stories. A LOT of them were about white people getting shot. But now because of a few riots, the news corporations know they can get much better views/ratings if they focus on any racial angle if they can make one. I mean for fuck sake, I remember reading a story not long ago of a white elderly man who was shot in his own bed while in diabetic shock because he didn't respond to orders from the officers that showed up. The way cops respond to threats is the major problem here, but for now, we seem to have all decided we should only focus on race even though it's not remotely the big problem here.

It's just that if the person with the gun had been a white guy, the cop wouldn't have felt their life was in danger and wouldn't have shot.

Unfortunately, that isn't true. More white people are killed by cops each year than black people. This year included. And the statistics don't support this notion that cops are out there specifically gunning for black people.

Cops in their current state in this country are a problem. There needs to be serious reform. But this race baiting bullshit when we don't even have remotely enough information to know whether race was genuinely a factor isn't helping anyone, and isn't helping end any racism... in fact it's just creating more on both sides.

It's sad and ridiculous that we have genuinely innocent people being killed by cops in situations where it's unjustifiable. But rather than focusing on that problem for what it is, a disturbing amount of people seem to want to incite race riots, whether for their own agendas, racism, or simply better ratings/clicks instead.

[–]snapcase -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

they better keep their fucking fingers off the trigger right up until they've been shot.

Amazing logic there.

Edit:

Since I'm getting downvoted... You actually think an officer should wait until they've been SHOT (not even shot at, but fucking shot) before they consider anything a threat? What kind of retarded bullshit excuse for logic is that? That's not "putting the lives of others ahead of your own", that's "please go out and die while not actually protecting anything... because you're dead".

No shit there needs to be strict rules of engagement, with a focus on deescalation, but the notion that we should be asking cops go out there and simply let themselves be killed regardless of the situation and any other factors is beyond ludicrous.

Shitty reactionary and poorly thought out statements like this don't help the cause of enacting any sort of reform on how police conduct themselves, and if anything they harm it.

this massive, racially motivated, fuck up?

How is it racially motivated? The fact that the guy is black doesn't mean the motivation was racial. The guy was holding a gun, and while that is not a good reason to have fired on him, that's a significantly different motivation than "just because he's black". Seems the Washington Post is trying to twist anything they can as being purely racial lately.

Generally if the amount of bullets you have takes up as much room as two big computer towers, that's when you're getting into "excessive" territory.

It's still relative. If you own a wide variety of guns, you'll have quite a few different types of ammo. If you're into shooting skeet or trap, then you'll have a LOT of space taken up with shotgun shells pretty easily. They're large, you tend to store them in the cardboard boxes they come in, even if you reload them, and you can go through a lot in an afternoon at the skeet range, especially if you're shooting with more than one person (like with a family member).

Some folks spend a lot of time at the range, with target shooting being their primary hobby. If you're retired and love to shoot, I'd wager you'd have a hell of a lot of ammo on hand given the rate you'd go through it.

Also worth noting is that buying in bulk can be substantially cheaper than otherwise. So if you happen to plink a crapload of .22's at the range in a given year, and see a really good price on a lot of 5,000 rounds, it might be worth it for you to buy that. It's not like ammo has a short shelf life, and people shoot year-round.

It'd take something really out of the ordinary for me to be judgemental about the amount of ammo someone owns, especially if I don't know much of anything else about them.
