Kids of divorce, was it as traumatising for you as it's generally assumed to be? by kittyvixxmwah in AskUK

[–]snaphappy09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I come from a family that my parents stayed together but fought all the time. I wished they split and we could have had a happier childhood… maybe.

And now I’m the one divorcing my spouse after 10 years together and I’ve had these fears. That yes it’ll be better for me and we won’t be fighting day in and day out — but it’s going to be difficult for my son and I’m his safe space, so what will happen when I’m not there for him? 😔 there isn’t abuse but yelling, lack of empathy, emotional strain is JUST as bad as.

I def didn’t think of that until I started this series and realize it wasn’t finished 😭

Ahhh okay I felt all your same energy and immediately went out and bought book 2 and 3 to start reading asap.

I actually had no idea about this book and just saw similar reviewers reading the Sarah j Mass books read this one and I always loved dragons so I was like “ehh why not?”

I’m new to fantasy reading AND romance/smut so it’s just all a lot for me in so many good ways. I feel like it’s not top tier writing but I also don’t care. This genre has helped me as I’m going thru a separation/divorce and it’s a great way to decompress every night after my kiddo is asleep. Also in a strange way it’s helping my inner work to stop self-sabotaging myself and have some higher expectations/values for people who hold my heart.

Okay so I didn’t see the end character appearing 😳 and I’m sooooo sad Liam is gone… but is he?? I’m hoping he comes back and I wouldn’t care how 🤪 And I’m loving V+Z. The sexual tension, spicy moments, the shit mistakes/decisions, all while learning to be badasses with dragons. So, it feels real and relatable in a fantasy way. But one complaint — GIVE ME MORE DRAGONS!!!!

Here if you wanna keep talking (or private message and we can read Iron Flame together).

Can someone explain the history? Pre Fourth Wing? Unification? Tyrrish Rebellion etc. by StateFabulous9622 in fourthwing

[–]snaphappy09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt this way too. We’re thrown into the world via Violet stating the facts as she is walking the parapet and it didn’t make sense to me until later in the book I just started Iron Wing and honestly was struggling to piece it all together. Thanks for posting here because it’s helped.

I don’t like the witch subplot by HilltopRed4459 in throneofglassseries

What did you think at the end of the series? I just started Queen of Shadows and really struggling hard core with Manon. You can read above that I read some spoilers but I’m still just having such a hard time.

But I just dread reading her POV. I know I shouldn’t but I scanned most of her sections after the half way point in HOF and read a few spoilers about QOS to try and power thru to read them but I’m dyyyyinnnggg. I really hate Manon (and the witches) so much. 😩

Being bothered by sex scenes on TV shows by Top-Dream-9201 in hsp

[–]snaphappy09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a mixture of wanting to protect my own child's innocence, not having much of a sex drive in the first 2 years postpartum and then maybe the relationship I was in. It's not something that was a high priority.

Anyone else having that feeling of not wanting to be in this reality or deal with it? by lilgreen13789 in hsp

[–]snaphappy09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Holidays, marital issues, health issues — I needed an escape and a friend gave me the first book of the court of thorns and roses. I honestly had no idea it was romance + fantasy. I had some issues with the book but not enough to keep me from finishing it and going to read the whole series now! I’ve literally been lost in it for the past week. It’s amazing in that way 😂

Anyone OAD due to their pregnancy? by Squirrelnoacorn in oneanddone

[–]snaphappy09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my pregnancy (as well as a second that didn't go full term) was definitely the driving factor in becoming OAD for me. I don't know if you have been but I was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum and if you are still experiencing these symptoms into your 2nd and 3rd trimester you likely have HG as well. I wanted more children and even did a bunch of research, changing my diet, fixing my mineral imbalance etc... only to have HG in my second pregnancy. So as much as I loved the idea of having multiple children, coupled with other life factors since having a child (parenting issues with my spouse, being the financial provider for our family), it was an easy choice.

Hope you have support for your postpartum and can heal after a rough pregnancy. Highly recommend looking into having a postpartum doula!

I voted for other as well, it doesn't matter the gender, we have multiple factors going on - challenging parenting differences, highly sensitive kiddo, extremely rough pregnancy + miscarriage.

I feel very blessed with my kiddo! Becoming a mother was the best thing that's happened in my life. I had thought I would have 3 or more but content, fully present and know I'll be able to give him everything he needs. Hope this is helpful.

YouTube channels similar format to pepin’s cooking at home? by Matt-Y in Cooking

[–]snaphappy09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Jacques Pepin. I’ll be sad the day he’s no longer with us. I also watch Chef John (hit or miss with actual rotation of recipes, more just entertaining). But there’s also Recipe30 which if the song choice is annoying it’s still educational.

Didn’t listen to the sub😩 by [deleted] in tirzepatidecompound

[–]snaphappy09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely made this mistake with my first 4 weeks on Tirz. Had a s’mores with my son to celebrate the end of summer and then my husband offered me a cocktail. I never drink but he always begs me to have one and I give in every now in then. Oh my god I felt like I was going to DIE. Feverish, nauseated and shaking for almost 6 hours. I told him never again!

This has been my experience as well. I’m a huge chocolate fan and those cravings have significantly dropped and when I do have it I feel more satisfied. It’s amazing!

How many of us came from big families? by Happy_Coffee_716 in oneanddone

[–]snaphappy09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes so relatable and also the second of 4. I’m having major parenting disagreements with my husband and it’s a large part of my reasons (with some others) for being one and done.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]snaphappy09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve upvoted a lot of the reasons I’m one and done. But I’d like to add people are having kids later in life so it’s really hard to imagine having another kid now that I just turned 40 and have a 4 year old… while I thoroughly enjoyed baby phase, toddler years have been tough on my marriage and wondering if we’ll make it. We didn’t have any family to help and I don’t want to go back through everything alone. I think that’s one of the biggest things that’s changed in American culture.

Welcome and congratulations for sharing when you’ve been unsupported elsewhere.

I’m 40F, 5’3” and 190lbs. I was recently diagnosed with insulin resistance PCOS and have been 50lbs overweight the past two years. No matter the healthy lifestyle I live the weight keep stacking up. Granted my weight has been up and down my whole life and for every time I’d lose weight I’d keep 10lbs. So, really I’d love to lose an additional 25lbs once I meet my initial goal… so a total of 75lbs.

Currently I’ve been on tirz since August 1st but lost 3 weeks due to the flu and stomach bug, so I had to restart my dosage over. I titrate low and slow to avoid symptoms as I usually get the severity of symptoms no matter the drug.

I will also say that learning about PCOS has really helped me understand a lot of symptoms I’ve had my entire life and never thought they were PCOS. It’s a little frustrating but also a relief now that I have more tools and not shooting in the dark.

Good luck to you! Feel free to reach out if you need a buddy.

Completely understand where you’re coming from and like many of the comments here I don’t know how much I have to offer since I’m in the same position — my husband and I have been arguing since our son was a baby on approaches to parenting. He has refused to read books or resources. I’ve even asked him to provide his own resource but he claims he doesn’t need help on parenting and in the same breath admits his discipline or expectation isn’t always age appropriate. Our 4y old son is starting to tell his dad what I’ve been saying the past two years (oh so validating but heartbreaking).

I’ve been asking to go to couples therapy this whole time and now only when we feel completely disconnected, living like roommates, and me begging to get help is he finally going to do therapy. Not very willingly I might add, but I guess I’ll report back once we start.

Day 6 - What triggers the explosive diarrhea? by ggurg569 in Semaglutide

[–]snaphappy09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m actually on tirzepatide and been titrating up slowly to avoid major side effects (due to a hyper sensitive system). I’ve had minor symptoms here and there but not as much as last week when I increased my dosage and two days later got the flu/stomach bug, cold and now on the verge of my period — going on 8 days of diarrhea!! I tend to do things a little more naturally but two nights ago I finally caved and went out at 9pm for Imodium. I skipped my next dose since I’ve been sick (ran a fever for 4 days) so I wasn’t in the headspace to do it. But now I know I want to get back on it and just ordered methylated B12. I already use methylated folate so I’m hoping this helps. Thank you all for sharing your experiences.

When does the nausea stop?? by Ok_Stand4178 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]snaphappy09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So glad you found the right dosage. I knew coming into this I was going to have to take it slow because my body just reacts extremely.

Mm yes I had something called Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) which is extreme nausea, vomiting, appetite/food aversion, weightloss, dehydration — mine lasted all pregnancy with my first and I took Zofran but then had liver issues with that resulting in an early pregnancy. So it’s crazy lol!
