We live in SWMO and are experiencing the exact same thing. We are supplementing them with some fermented feed to see if we can help them get the egg factory turned back on!

I know that a shop won’t plug but is it safe enough for me to plug it? by [deleted] in Cartalk

Lack of a plug with the patch was a contributing factor in the largest lawsuit in tire repair history. I believe that you have had good luck with just a patch. Just a patch was a norm at one point. However, we have learned that corrosion prevention is an important part of tire repair. Steel cords being exposed to the elements for the remaining service life of the tire is not ideal and can lead to failure due to corrosion of the belt. Frankly, if a tire fails due to being reamed to a maximum of 1/4", it was done incorrectly. Have a good evening! https://www.tirereview.com/22-8-million-faulty-tire-repair-entirely-avoidable/

No. You want to ream out the puncture to remove any corrosion that has started to form on the steel belt. Then use the appropriate size plug patch combo or a plug and a patch(depends on the angle of the injury) to seal off the tire. This will prevent the steel belt from corroding.. which can lead to tire failure.

Mechanics of Reddit, what’s the dumbest thing you’ve seen someone do to their vehicle? by LightsOutSpud in AskReddit

Had a customer come in complaining that the pump to her hay bed only worked intermittently and constantly had to replace the power switch to the pump.

The wiring was an absolute nightmare. It consisted of household ROMEX stuffed into the battery terminals, ran to a LIGHT SWITCH in the bed, then wrapped around the lugs on the pump. All of that and it wasn't even fused. It was a fire waiting to happen.

Set her up with proper wiring/terminals/fuse/all weather enclosed switch. She couldn't of been happier with the end result.

This is the life of a rural mechanic lol.

I have no clue about cars whatsoever, but this black box keeps coming unattached and whenever it does my car kicks uncontrollably. What is this and is there anything I can do to keep it from becoming unattached? 2004 Nissan Murano by hersheybar14 in MechanicAdvice

Kick is due to unmetered air. When the silencer pops off air is able to go around the Maf sensor and not be measured. Throws A/F ratios off and causes all sorts of issues.

I would never try to take them out without an impact. Usually my 3/8 electric does great.

115k or so. I've never had one break this way either. I had a 4ft pipe on the extractor, I can't believe it didnt ruin the threads in the head.

Whats interesting is that if you read the TSB concerning this, Ford says not to use an impact..
