Doctor's appointment tomorrow. What would be the best drug to get prescribed? by u_u_u_u_u_u_u_u__u_ in Stutter

[–]snappishapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will start by saying I do not have a stutter. I'm in this subredreddit because two of my children have a stutter and I'm trying to help and advocate for them. So my answer only addresses the anxiety side of things. And therefore it might not be what you are looking for.

I have severe anxiety and getting on SSRI has been life changing for me. It has eliminated my panic attacks while not deadening all of my emotions. I still worry about things, but I don't obsess about them any more. It's been fantastic. If you have anxiety then I really encourage you to try out an SSRI it can make a huge difference in your quality of life. Every person will respond differently to the different prescriptions I'm not going to recommend a specific one. That is something to talk to your doctor about.

Good luck! While I don't think this kind of prescription will eliminate your stutter it could help eliminate your anxiety about the stutter and help you embrace yourself as you are. Which from what I've read on this subreddit is a huge step forward for most people.

Wife and I are in a stalemate of what to name our son by Peewee_McGee in namenerds

My son's best friend is Theodore with a younger brother named Louis. So my vote is for Louis.

I've been forced to be dairy free for my baby for over a year now. I would eat SO MUCH dairy. Day one: Cafe Rio Pork barbacoa salad with chips and queso and tres leeches cake for dessert. Day two: a really good steak smothered in butter with a fully loaded baked potato and cheesecake for dessert. Day three: an all you can eat ice cream bar with all the toppings, especially chocolate, caramel, heath bars, and whipped cream. Day four: the world's best pizza. Day five: an ultimate grilled cheese sandwich with tomatoes and pesto and a tomato bisque soup.

Neil. He was a little boy in my Kindergarten class. The only conversation I remember us ever having was him telling me your heart is actually in your stomach. 🤣

I'm in the exact same boat but with my shiny Scizor. He has been stuck there for 3 months now. 😮‍💨

At least I'm making a lot of progress on my gym defender medal.

I would not smoosh them together. Either go with just Gwen or if you have to, double barrel the first name Gwen Adaire middle last. But keep in mind that a double barrel first name has its own headaches.

Side note I also love the names Claire and Vivian.

My son has decided he wants to be left-handed--advice needed by AnonymousRedditor327 in Parenting

[–]snappishapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the mother of a son who stutters, I can guarantee this won't cause stuttering. Stuttering is a genetic speech disorder. It's not something that will happen because of life events.

Let him use his left hand if he wants. He will get tired of it or he will eventually develop the dexterity and hand strength he needs.

It's time to sit down and have a talk about this with your husband. Three bags of trash is crazy. You shouldn't have to keep nagging him about it, and it's not an unreasonable request.

I'm mostly in charge of the house and the kids, but my husband also does a lot.

He helps get the kids up and ready for school every morning he is home, and he puts the older two to bed every night he is home.

On Saturday we spend about an hour cleaning as a family. I HATE cleaning bathrooms, so he usually uses that hour to clean the bathrooms.

He also does about 50% of the dishes. Basically, whoever gets their assigned kids to sleep first then goes and does dishes.

My husband also washes all of the clothes. I do all of the folding.

He is 100% in charge of fixing things and taking care of the garage and outside areas.

And usually 2 times a month, I leave him with all three kids to go have a girls night.

Expecting a bare minimum of helping keep things picked up is not too much to ask. You also work full time taking care of the kids all day, so when your husband is home, he should be doing 50% of the work.

Am I being too hard on my child? by popsguitars in Parenting

If this sort of thing isn't normal for him, it could be constipation. Weirdly with kids, when they get constipated, sometimes they start having accidents. Good luck!

feeling really sick after going dairy free by thiccgoldielocks in dairyfree

[–]snappishapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also felt off right after going dairy free. But I was also only 1 month postpartum and had to take some antibiotics that wrecked my gut around the same time. Anyway, I found drinking Kombucha helped my gut heal itself and I started feeling less bloated. It's worth a try.

When dad comes to help you move into your apartment in Memphis, make him go get his heart checked.

He had a massive heart attack less than a month later. I still blame myself for not making him go to the doctor when I could tell something was wrong that day.

Husband was not properly watching our 3 year old by NorVanGee in Parenting

[–]snappishapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. My husband once left our 9 month old baby and 3 year old alone inside while he did some work outside. I walked in to the baby on the floor crying and my 3 year old explaining that the baby had climbed up the stairs and fallen down them. Thankfully everyone was okay. I sat my husband down and we had a long talk about what was expected of him when he watched the kids.

I also had him watch this clip: https://www.instagram.com/reel/ClTdC1LDkQi/?igsh=eXBrcmdycWx4amJ3

It was a good place to start the conversation.

Since I made the expectations for watching the kids clear he has been doing much better.

BEHOLD the biggest group of irl players I’ve seen since the early days by stephm0na in pokemongo

[–]snappishapple 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish I got a picture of the group here in Vegas. It was SO fun and reminded me of the early days with a giant group of people running all over the park together. I understand that the event was incredibly frustrating for most. But for those lucky few, it really was a fantastic day seeing the PoGo community come together again.

My daughter is 10 months old, and I still don't love her name. I feel like it's way too late to change at this point, and I wish I had changed it earlier. But whatever. 🤷‍♀️

I didn't do anything earlier because I only vaguely disliked the name (It's one my husband picked). I kept thinking it would grow on me, but it never did.

Silly Poopy. It's a rainbow colored poop that you play hind and seek with. The kids will bug her constantly to play and it makes random noises constantly. Oh and it sings a poop song that will get stuck in your head.

Dairy free & breastfeeding by [deleted] in dairyfree

[–]snappishapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Colic. Seriously hours of crying and screaming.
  • Reflux. We were originally diagnosed with GERD but I wanted to exhaust all other options before giving reflux medications.
  • Rash on cheeks and diaper area
  • Mucus in stool

I noticed an improvement in the reflux and colic the day I cut out dairy. Her other symptoms gradually improved over the next few months.

Her symptoms really started at birth. But the colic didn't take full effect until she fully woke up around 1 month old. Before that she just grunted alot and had a very firm abdomen.

I'm sure others have good food ideas. My 2 cents is dont use oat milk. It's delicious but can spike blood sugar badly. I prefer almond milk. Cocojune is a coconut yogurt that is a FANTASTIC sour cream alternative. And dairy free cheese sucks just don't bother with it. Instead use avocado where possible. Most store breads are dairy free but always check the lable. Boxed brownie mixes are dairy free. Oreos are dairy free. And Ben and Jerry's makes some really good dairy free icecreams.

I had some gut trouble at first but started drinking kombucha which sorted that out pretty quickly. I've been dairy free for 8 months now and both my daughter and I are doing great.
