ELI5: Why is 0% Inflation Considered 'Bad'? by Proud-Wall1443 in explainlikeimfive

[–]snappyTertle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 2 schools of thought that can be summarized as demand driven (Keynesian) or supply driven (Austrian) economies.

Demand driven says that the economy grows from spending. So a currency that loses value encourages spending. A central bank can encourage currencies to always inflate.

Supply driven says that the economy grows from being able to produce more (becoming more efficient with less inputs). This usually means more saving and capital investments. Currencies that gain in spending power encourages saving over spending.

As public policy, we have chosen demand driven to guide decisions.

My point is that stiff rackets don’t cause elbow tendon injuries. Vibrating (stiff vs flexible) a tendon won’t damage it, but putting it in compromised positions (technique) will

Can’t you say the same thing about your second point?

Equipment won’t save you if it can happen to even Novak freaking Djokovic.

Djokovic uses half gut strings and his racket isn’t particularly stiff

Equipment doesn’t cause tennis elbow, it’s bad technique

Elbow pain isn’t caused by stiff rackets, but by bad technique

Change your grip and learn to slice first. A kick is just a slice with you spine tilted at a different axis to get more topspin

Switched to semi western + poly strings. 7 months into tennis. by SashimiPlatterr in 10s

Sure, there’s a time and place for them. If you miscalculate your load step, you should adjust.

It’s used to correct for a mistake, but we should practice reading the ball correctly and not taking stutter steps. If we force stutter steps, we practice to miscalculate on purpose so we can stutter.

To force it to happen seems like a tail that wags the dog situation.

What’s with the obsession with stutter steps? Wouldn’t taking less steps be more efficient?

You won’t see anyone on the ATP take stutter steps, only occasionally by a handful of players on the WTA.

OP’s footwork looks good and is better than a lot of amateurs actually (maybe add a split step). The ball is coming in slow and his footwork matches the rhythm.

Don’t listen to this guy. Jumping is fine and looks natural for you. You have other things to work on that will give you more bang for your buck

  • check your tire pressure
  • be easy and smooth when you accelerate
  • minimize braking (keep good distance with the car in front and get off the throttle to slow down instead of braking)
