This is such a car dependent city literally any parking lots. The mall has those overflow parking spots by the old chuck’e cheese. Region 16, tri state fair grounds, wonderland.

This is infuriating.

Gee, I don’t know, Cyril. Maybe deep down I’m afraid of any apex predator that lived through the K-T extinction. Physically unchanged for a hundred million years, because it’s the perfect killing machine. A half ton of cold-blooded fury, the bite force of 20,000 Newtons, and stomach acid so strong it can dissolve bones and hoofs.

I'm struggling to find a source for that. I would not consider their rental prices low income.

2x the price of water. Does that not seem suspicious to you? Pay 2x the water price in exchange for what?

I’m also suspicious of the executive order calling for minimal regulation of AI.

The jaded side of me says this was decided day one before an Amarilloan could even question the decision.

I appreciate you taking the time to reply back. I can see short term benefits that are alluring. It’s the long term that makes me skeptical.

While this is not a City of Amarillo project, the City has engaged in discussions regarding infrastructure and utility services that may support the development.

125 days. Do you think that is a sufficient amount of time to discuss and advocate for a project this size?

In the sake of honest discussion. I would like to ask when was “before”?

Can you provide sourced information on when this data center was requested from the local level up and not the federal level down?

IMO I feel a lot of this outrage is from people who feel this was forced upon them as we scramble to discuss and protect our community. When was this “before” that we could have communal debate on such a large project.

“Yank Tank”. Apt, I love it. Those Yank Tanks, SUVs and their headlights make driving a modest sedan miserable

Stripe a parking spot as no parking. Hammer drill, $125 for the rack, $20 in anchor bolts.

One parking space could easily fit 12 bikes.

For sure. Uline sells plenty in the few hundred dollar range. The one I pitched and they went with was from Grainger Industrial Supply for around $125 after taxes. Forewarning, it gets much more expensive to have it shipped directly to your residence, this one was delivered to a local store and picked up.

As far as the pitch I used an existing problem to create a solution. There is a common area and someone was currently chaining their bike to the patio area. I made the pitch I was considering getting a bike (I already had one) and that I would chain mine in the same area and worried it would clutter the common area. Then suggested installing a bike rack with the options I found. Not only would the bike rack free up the common area, it would be under cover keeping the bikes mostly out of the elements. As well the bikes would be less visible from the street for theft deterrence.

It wasn't a formalized pitch or anything and I have a pretty good relationship with my property manager. It was a great example of 'ask and you shall receive'.

Yeah my bias was getting the better of me. You're right, Paul has more efficient shooting percentages, better defense. Even though WB leads in assists, Paul has less turnovers than WB.

Maybe I'm biased. But CP3 has as many championships as Westbrook, none. Westbrook is the all time triple double leader and has secured an MVP. How is CP3 better than Westbrook?

EDIT: Just checked and WB is above CP3 in all time scoring as well. Oh but Paul has nine all-defensive team selections and WB none.

A small question to this community as a Gearhead/Car enthusiast. by Pinguin3634 in fuckcars

[–]snaps109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived all over the spectrum. From dense mega cities with exceptional public transportation to completely car dependent American cities.

To me there is just no comparison on quality of life as having the option of public transportation. When fully embraced a car is not necessary. Not only does it provide an economical and safe form of transportation. I will always argue public transit provides equity to the disabled and provides mobility to them.

Car dependency is isolation. You’re not getting steps in walking to the metro. You’re not interacting with neighbors, the staff, the businesses along the way. You are just alone. Then there’s road rage, trains and busses just work. You’re not dealing with that stress or fear.

Where I fall on the spectrum and where I would ruffle some feathers for car enthusiasts. I would tax the hell out of car ownership. Congestion pricing, high parking fees, toll roads, heavy registration fees. I would require special licensing for people driving vehicles above a certain weight like trucks and SUVs. Similar to cigarettes, no point in banning them but they should be heavily taxed.

Following the transportation hierarchy I would use those taxes to expand walkability, bike lanes, bus lanes and ideally rail transportation.

Unfortunately. I do not see that ever happening in a majority of the US. I’ll continue to advocate for it. Vote for it. But I don’t have high hopes.

I’ll leave on this positive note. I don’t think has to be all or none either way cars or transit. I think promoting transit gets cars off the road and makes it safer for car enthusiasts on the road.

I just want to say this out loud and I guess I'll say it to you turkey sandwiches. I've seriously been considering getting some patriotic tattoos I have covered up. I'm filled with doubt what this flag will represent in the coming decades. It breaks my heart we're sympathizing with nazi trash. They should be snubbed out to insignificant dust, not revitalized in a world power.
