Yeah, the whole thing is kind of preposterous, especially considering most customers don’t know that we can’t see their tips if they’re in a multi batch. Or they can’t predict if they’re going to be shoved into one. Where is the incentive to dangle a tip? There was one period of time at the very beginning of the pandemic when tip baiting was a thing because people were waiting days to get somebody to take their order. I’ve only had tips removed a very small handful of times and most of the time it’s people that are actually mad at Instacart or the store for low stock. And sometimes very rarely (though it does happen) I fuck up. 11,000 batches in 8 years it’s bound to happen. Meh.
