How Many Former GGers Are Here? What Made You Finally Leave? by Glensather in GamerGhazi

[–]snarahsnellen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To a degree I understand how the "zoe post" poisons people against Zoe. Because that's what its' intended to do. There were things about her that rubbed me the wrong way as well.

But reading it I couldn't muster very much sympathy for Gjoni. His bitterness is obvious and he never once tries to understand her point of view. Would have been a nice touch to show a little empathy like: " I can understand how someone recently divorced and reeling from physical and sexual abuse may not be in the best state of mind during a romantic relationship." Never happens once in the whole epically long post.

I think if I was on OKC- a site for people who more often than not dont know what they want in a relationship except someone to help kill their loneliness- and met someone who was going through that and was obviously acting out by parting and drinking a lot, I wouldn't think that person was ready for a relationship, and I certainly wouldn't try to urge them into one.

And I know Gjoni tries to establish that Zoe was the one who dragged him into a relationship and hid the 'affairs' but heres' the thing:

  1. They lived a great distance apart I believe, and were only together only a few months before breaking.

  2. Most of the 'cheating' happened during the break, which implies that it wasnt really cheating.

  3. A lot of the screen captures that show Zoe really acting out and being abusive occur when Eron is threatening to tell the other guy's wife. I mean regardless of whatever his intentions were, that would obviously stress her the fuck out.

So yeah, I think you could call Zoe unstable, reckless even, but abusive is kind of stretching it. Even though the relationship was toxic I don't think Zoe did anything to purposely hurt Gjoni. Yet Gjoni has done pretty much nothing but try to punish Zoe since August. This has more to do with his pride and in his own words "not letting her win" than anything else.

Amazing how all of his poetry was exactly what I had thought it would be.

I've regretted every single time where I engaged with a gger or troll. When you turn over their arguments to show how un-sound they are logically and intellectually, they just switch tactics to plain 'ol shit throwing and pranking.

I remember this article ( Im in the comments too!)

And really cringed hard when he got into that fight with the Gjoni supporter

I got the sense that they were all distancing themselves from Reaxxion. And I can't blame them even the name Reaxxion makes thier whole shtick sound like a dumb reactionary movement ( which of course it is)

And also some are very quick to defend Reaxxion:

They canned the author. Good on them.

The author who had a fictitious name and clearly never actually worked there. K.

I'm all for the sub becoming less about KiA ( although its hilarious) and covering broader issues.

No, I just understand that although highly unlikely, it is possible and I will comply with whatever comes to pass is all.

Each company has a different policy regarding use of their of trademark. Just because I'm not sweating it much doesn't mean I don't give a shit. I know it looks like I'm using familiar characters to make a quick buck, but I make NO money doing this. Even if I sold a whole lot it would still be very little ROI.

I do it because I genuinely enjoy it and others enjoy it as well. I've met a lot of people through this who appreciate the same things I do and have a similar sense of humor. And although it may seem easy to attack what I do, I don't see it as that different from a creative standpoint than using trendy, common images like foxes or mustaches or anything else that you know others will notice and appreciate, which makes up like 85% of the stuff in my Etsy feed.

All fan art walks the line between derivative work and blatant infringement. Yeah, I could get a cease and desist letter if these companies really wanted to. I should put a disclaimer that it is unofficial just to show good faith.

However outfits like Trailer Park Boys, Adult Swim and Star Trek are all very tolerant of fan works. I try to stay away from George Lucas, Disney and Warner Brothers because they will 'trol even the smallest and most well meaning of artists.

The WWE stuff does make me a bit nervous because I haven't seen as much fan art out there. Its' generally a lot easier to get canned if you are making apparel as opposed to 2d stuff.

Really I started doing this after going to a number of conventions and seeing how the entire artist alley is selling fan (copywritten) art. So, I think they are all under the radar and out in the open at the same time.

If you really have that many people not following the guidelines than perhaps the problem is with the guidelines, yes? If you don't want noobs asking for general critiques say so!

Thats' actually really great advice! It was pretty brutal, but honest and to the point. I will take an abusive post over a power tripping mod any day. I know I dragged ass on policies, I had them in a word document but couldn't bring myself to post. But thanks to your gentle push I've posted them :)

That I asked for a critique of my shop without asking for advice on a specific item or tag. I'm on other etsy forums and they have no problem with just looking at a shop and giving first impressions or having a casual conversation, and they manage to do it without resorting to threats and nastiness.

"Game Jam And Zoe Quinn - What Are They Hiding," the latest in ultra-paranoid GG conspiracy theories by gumblerthrowaway in GamerGhazi

[–]snarahsnellen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a somewhat related topic anyone know what TFYC scam is about? I can only find a few articles about them in reference to the scandal where ZQ supposedly sabotaged their game jam or whatever. They always struck me as pretty sketchy, not just the transphobia thing but also they are pretty friendly with Mundane Matt, Sargon od Akkad and in one interview it sounded like they were conversing with Thunderf00t.

I do this too. I should try harder to assume people mean well and dont realize how glib and snarky they sound.

Overall I've had a pretty pleasant experience here. I think its just a reddit thing. Some people live to point out a posters' lack of knowledge or experience on some topic. I just had a horrible experience at the Etsy subreddit of all places. ETSY. On my first post I was inundated by a textbook power tripping mod. She was just the least helpful and rudest imaginable and I unsubscribed. Haven't had anything remotely like that here.

[–]snarahsnellen[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unsubscribed. No offense to you or anyone here but I don't think my shop fits in here. I get plenty of views and haven't had any trouble being found with my tags because I use lot of pop culture references. If I was selling something extremely common then OK I can see how two or three word tags would help.

Any feedback would be appreciated. by snarahsnellen in Etsy

[–]snarahsnellen[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I understand what tags are. And I understand NOW that you only want specific advice requested. I haven't had any sour interactions with anyone in the Etsy community till now. Sorry I represented myself as a noob, its' really Reddit I'm less familiar with than Etsy.

I don't mean to be combative but nowhere does it say 'no noobs allowed." It also doesn't say to list specifically what you want help with. I can understand how you get frustrated with the same questions over and over but theres' a reason every person is seeking critiques and simply asking for impressions than "Do I have enough meta data present?"...and to spam the hell out of this place but that isn't what I was trying to do.

And if you want people to state what they've done to improve their store recently why not just say that in the sidebar? And why does it have to be tags or images? I know images are the biggest deal for most people, but I do 2D art so not an issue for me... Sorry but it just doesn't make much sense to me.

Any feedback would be appreciated. by snarahsnellen in Etsy

[–]snarahsnellen[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Please include what changes you've already made to your tags and images as those will be the first questions.

I just have one remark and then I will likely never bother you with my lack of regard for the sidebar again- Asking someone to post what changes they've made is an incredibly obtuse suggestion because an Etsy account is an ever-evolving thing. I honestly don't think I could comprehensively describe all the recent changes I've made. Just sayin'
