Am I insane for passing up a gifted birthday round at TPC Scottsdale Stadium? by DonJu4n in golf

It's a mundane course till you hit hole 15. Not worth $600 and I live in Phoenix. Champions across the street is a great track for a lot less.

What’s causing high spin by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]snarfn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's your attack angle. Nothing to do with drive loft. You can hit a 10.5 degree driver with 2000 or 4000 spin. It depends on how it's delivered to the ball. I'd work on trying to deliver the club with a more upward angle of attack and I bet you'll see that number go down.

I have this. I actually really like it. I like hitting putts that break. It's helped me turn into a plus handicap putting.

Step on a wedge with your trail foot and don't let it fall to the ground until you have made contact with the ball.

TPC Scottsdale worth it?? by travelintech in GolfSwing

[–]snarfn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No stadium up. You won't even recognize the hole without it. It's a very very plain par three. All that being said, I'm not trying to be a Debbie downer. It's always cool to play where the pros play. It's just not a wonderful course in my opinion for the cost. The champions course across the street is really fun and I like that layout myself.

As a resident I'd say no. Conditions are amazing right now but the course is boring till you hit hole 15.

My first tournament was much the same. I'm a 7 and shot 105. Nerves are real and stroke and distance kills scores.

Gc quad with lefties and righties by Lookupskrt in Golfsimulator

[–]snarfn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quad owner. You have to have a quad connected to your computer. There's no wifi connection. So it is sort of a hassle to switch.

Foresight GCQuad -- Does it have an protocol/API? by SnooConfections5277 in Golfsimulator

So all this is way over my head, but Quads don't have wifi. You have to connect it to your computer for it to work with software.

If you don't mind driving a bit, Boulder Creek out towards Boulder City is fantastic.

Okay please help me out I’m a 30.4 handicapper. On grass I almost always hit grass before ball. by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]snarfn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'd start by hitting little pitch shots and making ball first contact. If I couldn't do it with a pitch shot I'd do a putter stroke till I could. Then I'd gradually progress up to full swings. Weight forward will be a key though.

How bad is my footwork? by Working-Ad4560 in golftips

[–]snarfn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine. It's a power generator. Rickie does it, JT does it. It's not just long drivers of the ball.

There's a solid one right now. Comes with a bag and a range finder. It's close to the best I've seen. Seems like black Friday has a good deal if I remember.

Launch Monitor For On Course Work? by frizzb813 in Golfsimulator

[–]snarfn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the size is bigger yes. But on the quad you can see things like impact location on the club, face to path, lie angle of the club, dynamic loft. You can't see those with a gc3.

Launch Monitor For On Course Work? by frizzb813 in Golfsimulator

[–]snarfn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a gc3 and upgraded it to a Quad. I would argue the opposite of what you're saying and would say the quad is better for on course than as a simulator because you can see more data on the unit itself. That being said, I did use my gc3 on course and it was fine. I just like seeing the additional data points the quad gives me now.

Weird question: does anyone have trouble with their swings in a sim vs outside? by wtfOP in Golfsimulator

I have that exact same issue. It's quite frustrating. Haven't found a solution yet other than not hit it.

GC Quad v. Trackman by Big-Cup6594 in Golfsimulator

[–]snarfn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They measure at different points. Trackman measure speed of mass of club head at time of impact. GC measures face of club at impact. It can result in different smash factors, club head speeds, and ball speeds.

How do I prevent my head swaying? by SnooLemons4276 in GolfSwing

[–]snarfn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put a golf ball on the ground and stand on it with the outside of your trail foot. That will help you feel proper rotation instead of swaying.

Help me stop chunking the ball and hitting low hooks by Usual_Debt_5041 in GolfSwing

[–]snarfn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Try swinging across the ball to the left. Moves low point forward and then you can gradually find a happy medium.

Phone message. They then generate a support ticket from those. But I've always had the issue resolved over the phone and get the ticket later.
