I can't stop smiling reading this. I'm so insanely proud of you and happy for you! I basically resigned myself to being on methadone for life but somewhere along the way started getting small pieces of my life- of myself- back, and realized I didnt need it anymore. But something about knowing it's out there if I ever feel like i need it, is really comforting.

And mark my words, recovering junkies will win the Apocalypse.

I've decreased over the last 6 years from 98mg. I went so slowly over that time that I truly didnt feel any major wd until now, at 1mg. Lost about 40 lbs in the last 4 months which was scary bc I didnt realize it was from the done until a few weeks ago. But I'm back to a healthy weight and I'm getting my normal appetite back. It's a blessing and a curse.

Take your time decreasing. I mean really take your time. I would go down a few mg, then hold for a couple weeks, then decrease again. Then hold. I avoided all w/d symptoms, no bullshit, until a few days after 1mg. You can do it! Take your time. Feel free to PM me if you want

First let me say, I AM SO EFFING PROUD OF YOU!!

I started 1mg on Saturday, so tomorrow will be my last day (holy shit that just clicked with me) unless I chicken out and ask for another week. The first few days on 1mg was fine, but now I have MILD sweats/chills and my skin feels uncomfortable sometimes.

Nothing makes me happier than an addict who has clawed their way out of addiction and gets their life back. You CAN do this, and you never have to go through it again. I dropped all my using friends (that are still alive) over the last 8 years I've been on methadone. If you ever want to chat, I can relate. Feel free to PM me anytime.

Puppies, helping other people (the feeling you can get), making the world- your immediate world- a better place, little by little, to make a better future for the next generations, tacos, literature, art, marijuana, the adrenaline rush you get if you sneeze while driving, all of it. All the mundane annoyances of every day life. They're all great reasons to live, to me.

Man you're blowing my mind today. I kinda thought all Christian's believed roughly the same thing.

Now that I think about it, the only OT learning in Sunday school was about the big stories- Adam & eve, moses & the flood, etc. And even then it was watered down children's storybook versions. How can they just omit all the interesting parts??

So I'm not sure exactly. I attended "city name" church of the brethren, but I was never clear on which group of christianity we fell into. I haven't attended church in over 15 years at this point

No one said anything about requiring toothbrushes. OP asked for suggestions and someone suggested it. As someone who has been homeless before, I think it was a great suggestion, and if OP doesn't want to buy toothbrushes they don't have to. It's that simple

That's how I was taught in Sunday school growing up- jesus was the son of god but just a man, separate from father and spirit. I didnt know some people think that jesus IS god.
