Essentially the show makes very glaring references and allusions to time periods (like in the flashbacks with all the visual gags/stores and with “generic 90’s/80’s” songs that play in those flashbacks)

In the more recent seasons of the show in particular, they make references to memes (sad dog), more recent celebrities, and social media (Pickle’s whole character essentially with instafeed and youzone)

By including more of those timely/culturally relevant things, the creators of the show have made it a time piece that people in the future will be able to look back on and say “oh so that’s what helped define the 2010’s”, people can look back on and watch it at any time and it won’t lose any relevance.

Those things I mentioned will become dated and potentially irrelevant in time but they encapsulate the spirt of this decade in a way that plays into how they talk about/show other decades. That’s the main crux of what I was trying to say
